How You'll Make an Impact

As an Options Installation Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring customer-ordered machine options are installed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with Okuma quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

- Install electrical and mechanical options on Okuma-built machines to meet customer requirements and specifications.

- Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support installation and assembly activities.

- Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software systems.

- Verify completed installations and perform quality checks to ensure proper functionality and compliance with specifications.

- Utilize a variety of hand tools, precision measuring equipment, cranes, forklifts, and other equipment safely and effectively.

- Collaborate with team members and other departments to identify solutions and maintain project timelines.

- Maintain a safe, organized work environment while adhering to all company policies and safety practices.

- Perform additional duties as assigned and proactively seek opportunities to improve processes and add value.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

- Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- 2 to 5 years of manufacturing experience with a primary focus on electrical assembly, installation, or machine building

Technical Knowledge

- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.

- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.

- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

- Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, cranes, forklifts, and other assembly equipment.

- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

- Ability to inspect work thoroughly, diagnose electrical or software-related issues, and understand hydraulic and pneumatic circuitry.

Qualifications

Experience/Training/Education
•    Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience
•    2-5 yrs. experience in Manufacturing with a primary focus on electrical assembly or installation

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
General: 
•    Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage a range of responsibilities and competing priorities while working under pressure to meet deadlines
•    Superb time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet regular and frequent deadlines

Technical:  
•    Strong mechanical/ electrical skills
•    Able to read electrical schematics and blueprints 
•    Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
•    Proficient use of hand tools and variety of electrical and mechanical devices such as precision measuring equipment, cranes, fork lifts, etc.
•    Basic use of PC tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel
•    Ability to check ones work, verify electrical/software issues, understand hydraulic/pneumatic circuitry

Communication: 
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional listening skills
•    Exceptional ability to speak and write effectively in a business environment
•    Exceptional ability to ask necessary questions
•    Good Attitude, ability to work independently or with a team

Physical and Environmental Elements
Physical Demands: 
•    Ability to sit continuously for approximately 1/4 of normal work shift, and stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for at least 3/4 of the normal work shift
•    Ability to lift and carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds 
•    Ability to stoop, crouch and reach 
•    Ability to talk or hear continuously
•    Ability to see clearly to do all work-related tasks (clear or corrected vision at 20 inches or less) 
•    Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 3/4 of the normal work shift including operating a phone, computer/ electronic equipment, tools, a pallet jack, and a fork lift

Work Environment: 
•    The majority of the position’s functions are performed in the Okuma warehouse/ showroom. The employee works in an open warehouse area where temperatures may be subject to outdoor conditions in terms of cold and heat.  There is exposure to various tools and equipment as well as forklift operations and corresponding noise levels
•    A small portion of the position’s functions may be performed in the office environment with standard equipment and moderate noise levels (examples: computers, printers, fax, copiers, light traffic, and phone)

•    Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job duties
