Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Position Summary:

AMETEK Rotron is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern Co-op to support continuous improvement, process optimization, and operational excellence initiatives within our aerospace manufacturing operation. This position provides hands-on experience working alongside manufacturing engineers, production personnel, quality teams, and operations to improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to lean manufacturing principles, process engineering, data analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

- Support the development and maintenance of manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.

- Participate in daily production troubleshooting and root cause investigations.

- Collect, analyze, and present manufacturing data related to productivity, scrap, yield, cycle times, and process capability.

- Assist with time studies, workflow analysis, and production layout evaluations.

- Participate in corrective action and non-conformance investigations.

- Support manufacturing equipment validation, process qualification, and tooling improvement efforts.

- Assist in the implementation of visual management, 5S, Kanban, and other lean manufacturing systems.

- Create reports, charts, and presentations for engineering and operations leadership.

- Support special projects related to automation, capacity improvement, and cost reduction.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:

- Manufacturing Engineering

- Mechanical Engineering

- Electrical Engineering

- Mechanical Engineering Technology

- Or a related engineering discipline

- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to pass required backround check and drug test.

- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Preferred:

- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, assembly, balancing, testing, or inspection.

- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools and data visualization software.

- Experience with Power BI, SQL, or other data analysis tools.

- Understanding of aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or quality systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.

- Ability to stand and walk throughout production areas.

- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

- Appropriate use of personal protective equipment in manufacturing areas.
