Job Description:

The Aesthetician provides professional skin care treatments and non-surgical aesthetic services in collaboration with the plastic surgery team. This role supports patients throughout their surgical and non-surgical journey by delivering safe, effective treatments, educating patients on skin health, and promoting an exceptional patient experience in line with the clinic’s standards of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Perform non-surgical skin care services, including facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and other advanced treatments as approved by the surgeon, such as laser therapies (CO₂, VBeam, radiofrequency micro needling, and other lasers) and hair removal.

·         Assist providers with pre- and post-procedure skin care, including wound care guidance, scar management, and treatment plans to optimize surgical results.

·         Educate patients on at-home skin care routines, pre- and post-operative instructions, and available aesthetic services.

·         Assess patients’ skin conditions and recommend appropriate treatments and products.

·         Promote skin care products and educate patients on their benefits to support long-term results.

- Maintain treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies in compliance with infection prevention and safety protocols, including proper cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces, sterilization of reusable instruments, safe handling and disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials, and adherence to OSHA, CDC, and clinic-specific standards.
- Tracks aesthetic supply inventory based on usage and upcoming appointments, and notifies the supervisor when items need to be reordered. Submits receipts and collects packing slips for all orders, ensuring proper documentation is sent to purchasing for payment. Coordinates this process in alignment with the clinic’s medical supply procedures.

·         Document patient treatments and recommendations in the electronic medical record (EMR).

·         Collaborate with Physician/Midlevel providers and support staff to ensure seamless care and patient satisfaction.

·         Support practice growth by fostering strong patient relationships and contributing to marketing and education events as needed.

·         Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·         Knowledge of skin anatomy, common dermatologic conditions, and aesthetic treatment techniques.

·         Ability to perform professional skincare services (e.g., facials, peels, dermaplaning) safely and effectively.

·         Knowledge of infection control, sterilization standards, and OSHA guidelines.

·         Ability to assess patient skin concerns and provide appropriate treatment recommendations within scope of practice.

·         Skill in educating patients on skincare regimens, post-procedure care, and product usage.

·         Ability to recognize contraindications or adverse reactions and escalate concerns to a provider as appropriate.

·         Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

·         Ability to document accurately and timely within an electronic medical record (EMR) system.

·         Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and ensure a positive patient experience.

·         Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical setting while managing time and multiple priorities effectively.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

·         High school diploma or GED is required.

·         Current state licensure as an Aesthetician is required.

·         Two or more years of professional experience as an aesthetician in a medical, dermatology, or plastic surgery setting is required.

·         Training or certification in advanced skin care procedures (e.g., chemical peels, laser treatments, micro needling) is required.

·         Knowledge of skin physiology, cosmetic ingredients, and post-surgical skin care.

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Ability to stand for extended periods of time during treatments.

·         Manual dexterity to perform precise skin care procedures and operate equipment.

·         Visual acuity to evaluate skin conditions and monitor patient response.

·         Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
