Arts Education Coordinator

The Arts Education Coordinator will design and oversee arts education programming at Next Door.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

The Next Door Arts Education Coordinator will:

- Design and implement a Next Door Arts Education Curriculum to align with existing birth-five curriculums.

- Develop resources to accompany and sustain a Next Door Arts Education Curriculum.

- Provide training, mentorship and coaching to assist teaching staff in the successful delivery of classroom experiences with particular emphasis upon high quality teacher practice and quality feedback regarding teaching and learning opportunities relative to the arts education.

- Support staff in the arrangement and utilization of arts enrichment spaces to maximize child engagement in arts education.

- Coordinate and facilitate arts enrichment activities with “artists in residence” and other community partners to provide arts education activities for children and teachers.

- Establish and convene an Arts Advisory Committee.

- Coordinate and facilitate 2 annual Family Arts Events.

- Document and publish Arts Education experiences via photographs, narratives and video.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field.

- Experience in Early Childhood Education and integrating Arts Education into programming.

Physical Demands

- Primarily active work; occasionally lifting, holding or moving up to 50 lbs.

- A biannual physical exam, drug screen and TB test are required as a condition of initial employment and continued employment.

Physical Activity

- Bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting on the floor, walking/transporting, handling, reaching, climbing, balancing, crouching, crawling, talking and speaking clearly, hearing conversation level, smelling, and seeing; ability to interact daily with children outdoors in varied weather condition.

Work Environment

- Mainly classroom setting and travel to various sites for meetings and/or trainings.

Personal/Physiological

- Ability to make frequent, significant decisions to understand and react to children, staff and volunteers/contractors.

- Ability to respond quickly and competently to an emergency or crisis situation in order to keep children and staff safe.
