Scope of Position

This motivated and detail-oriented individual, as part of the Quality and Production Engineering team, will support projects that improve production efficiency, factory layouts, and manufacturing processes. The intern will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while contributing to operational excellence and measurable process improvements.

This position reports to the Operations Manager.

This role is onsite and is based in Fort Worth, TX

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Support Production Engineers with project execution and daily operational tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Purchasing, Sustaining Engineering, and Production Supervisors, to advance project goals.
- Design and develop fixturing and tooling solutions to improve production cell efficiency.
- Create and revise factory floor layouts to optimize space utilization and workflow.
- Work directly with production cells and operators on the manufacturing floor to observe processes, learn about operations, and support improvements.
- Analyze assembly and unit production cycle times to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Measure and document the results of implemented changes to validate their impact and support continuous improvement.
- Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Operations manager or Company management.
- Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

Required Qualifications

- Current student (sophomore, junior or senior status).
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Passionate about your work, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully and make an impact.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments.
- Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
- Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including [insert checks], and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience using CAD software through coursework, projects, or previous internships.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes, tooling design, or production layout planning.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, time studies, or continuous improvement methods.

Working Conditions

While performing the job duties, you will be working onsite at a manufacturing facility in both office and manufacturing environments. You will be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. You will work at Fort Worth location Monday–Friday. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

- Ability to walk and move around the office and manufacturing floor.
- Ability to stand or sit while performing assigned duties.
- Ability to use hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with management, coworkers, and production operators.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Visual abilities necessary to perform assigned duties, including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, which may include safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Pay Range: $22-26

The expected hourly range for this position is $22–$26 hourly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
