Position Overview:

Ameresco currently has a new opportunity in Birmingham, Alabama for an experienced Site Safety Manager to oversee daily construction and project operations and ensure a safe, healthy, accident-free work environment. This project is with the Veterans Integration Service Network (VISN) doing building upgrades for Veteran Affairs healthcare facilities over the next 3 years.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare the Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for assigned Business Unit projects.
- Ensure compliance to all Safety Policies and adopted Standards.
- Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use.
- Conduct Safety Audits of assigned project sites ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised.
- Safety training of all personnel assigned to project.
- Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items.
- Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings.
- Creation and evaluating activity hazard reviews.
- Regulatory compliance with OSHA and Ameresco standards and conducts accident and incident investigations.
- Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans.
- Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems.
- Foster and maintain a positive safety culture for the project personnel.
- Maintain all safety certifications as required by contracts.
- Conduct quarterly safety meetings for Project Staff.
- Produce Safety Reports of activities performed.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management.
- Lead Incident/accident Investigations.
- Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline OR a minimum of 5 years related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial, government, or industrial safety management.
- EM-385 Certification.
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and industry.

Additional Qualifications:

- Experience developing, implementing, and managing Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
- Ability to review confidential US security information.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Ability to manage positive and effective interpersonal, functional, organizational relationships with all parties.
- Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and presentation skills. Current CHST, CSP, ASP, CSHO, or equivalent professional safety certification.
- Experience working under USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other Department of Defense construction contracts.
- Experience with electronic safety management systems and digital reporting
- Valid Driver License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
- Ability to travel and provide on-call response required.
