Quality Control Technician- Fuel Facility

Job Summary and Mission

Safely inspect fuel hydrant pits, underground vaults, valves, piping, and other devices. With proper training, utilize hand tools and vacuum truck to perform tasks as directed. Execute all tasks under the daily supervision of an Operations Supervisor. Ensure that product meets or exceeds quality standards and all actions are in line with procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements while projecting a professional image for Menzies Aviation and CLT FUEL FACILITIES LLC.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret written and verbal orders to complete inspections and other tasks on fuel hydrant system at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Ensure through various testing procedures and sensory observations that jet fuel quality specifications are met and maintained.

Respond to abnormalities or alarms in the airport hydrant system.

Ensures that all work assigned is performed in a timely fashion with attention to detail.

Show up for assigned shifts on time.

Receive and apply training on various topics and ask questions to understand if uncertain.

Perform all inspections as assigned and trained and record results in a clear and accurate manor.

Properly manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste, and respond to emergency events appropriately.

Must adhere to local, State, and Federal safety policies, and company rules and regulations

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age

Must possess and maintain valid US drivers license

Must pass all pre-employment testing including a physical, color vision test, audio test, and drug test

Must not be afraid of heights and be physically capable of performing tasks on above ground storage tanks

Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays

Must be able to comply with local airport, FAA and/or U.S. Customs safety, security, and identification requirements and pass a thorough security background check

Experience operating petroleum pumps, valves, and pipelines a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English

Ability to perform basic math calculations to include working with fractions and decimals.

Strong writing and documentation skills

Detail Oriented

Team Player

Ability to read tape measure to the nearest 16th of an inch

Ability to work across an office environment and outdoor environment in all types of weather.

Ability to climb stairs, lift up to 60 lbs, twist, work in tight spaces, pull and push, and be on your feet in intervals up to four hours.

Working Conditions

Exposure to outdoor environments, various inclement weather conditions, aviation related fumes and various noise levels. Work is governed by safety related procedures. Exposure to related cleaning and chemical materials (after proper training) during routine and special cleaning assignments. This category as stated, is not exclusive. Working in permit-required confined spaces.

The employee performs periodic tasks and inspections on valves, hydrant pits, high/low points, pressure controls, metering and gauging equipment and company vehicles in an around confined spaces and industrial environments. All conditions are accounted for with PPE and routinely evaluated for changes.

Physical Requirements

Position requires wearing safety related equipment, i.e. goggles, gloves, boots, respirator, hearing protection, and back support as necessitated by a specific task. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing, rotating, twisting, climbing of high tanks, squatting, kneeling, overhead arm movement. Must be able to routinely handle weights up to and including 60 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms, climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee may also be expected to sit at a desk to complete reports or paperwork on a computer and on paper. This facility utilizes a ruggedized tablet to complete inspections in the field and so there is a requirement to enter data in a timely manner by using a touch screen and camera.

What you will be doing:

- Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical reports and preventative maintenance of equipment at fuel storage facilities/systems

- Performs routine and periodic inspections in compliance with company, customer, government, and industry standards

- Monitors storage tanks and related equipment to ensure that they are in good working order to prevent spills, releases, overfills and product contamination

- Conducts all work in a safe fashion by adhering to all company, customer, industry, local, state, and federal safe work policies/procedures

- Makes required log entries of fuel transactions, quality control, and maintenance

- Comply with the stations attendance/tardiness standards

- Assures adherence to safety policies and procedures.

What we are looking for:

- Must be 18 years of age

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or twelve (12) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Prior experience preferred including possession of a Commercial Drivers License or experience in the Oil and Gas Industry (preferred)

- Ability to perform basic math calculations

- Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English

- Able to read and understand Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical reports.

- Must be able to perform preventative maintenance of equipment to include minor pump and valve repairs, pump oil changes, pump greasing and miscellaneous maintenance work.

- Must be computer literate

- Work is done primarily outdoors; must be comfortable working in all weather conditions

- Available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays

- Must possess and maintain a valid US drivers license

- Must pass all pre-employment testing including a color vision test, and a drug test

- Must pass background check and obtain US Customs seal

- Able to handle fueling carts and fueling hoses which will require you to lift and move up to 70lbs

- Ability to learn quickly

- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Ability to work as part of a team

- Ability to build relationships
