ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Casual Specimen Processing Technician to join our General Laboratory team on the Newark campus.

In this role, you’ll perform essential pre- and post-analytical functions that help ensure patient specimens are accurately processed and delivered for timely laboratory testing.

Schedule:

Part-time Midnight shift

- Every other weekend
- 10:30pm - 7:00am
- 2-3 holidays per year

As a Specimen Processing Technician, you will:

- Receive, process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens
- Print and accurately affix patient identification labels to incoming specimens
- Prioritize incoming work and ensure STAT specimens are promptly routed to the appropriate laboratory section
- Communicate specimen priorities to testing personnel to support established turnaround times
- Respond to inquiries from physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel
- Support the accurate and efficient flow of specimens throughout the laboratory

Education/Experience requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of applicable clinical experience working with specimens in a laboratory environment or equivalent college coursework in a healthcare or science-related field preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Hourly Pay Range: $19.48 - $28.24

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
