Staff Security Platform Engineer (IC5)

OVERVIEW

OnTrac is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Security Platform Engineer (IC5) to join a contractor program supporting a critical customer engagement. The customer requires one Staff (IC5) engineer to support day-to-day backend integrations and policy platform use cases. This role is ideal for a hands-on backend engineer who can take ownership of integration work on a policy platform, set technical direction for a small delivery team, and become productive on a customer codebase with minimal ramp-up. The successful candidate will work closely with the delivery team and customer stakeholders, including the customer's tech lead, to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery.

ENGAGEMENT

• Expected start date: 12 October 2026

• Expected end date: 8 January 2027 (very high likelihood of extension)

• Location: United States, fully remote

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Core, hands-on experience building backend services and integrations in Golang

• Core experience with MongoDB as an application data store, including data modeling and query design

• Core experience with Snowflake, including loading data into it and querying it from backend systems

• Core experience building and running services on AWS

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining integrations between backend systems and supporting platform use cases alongside a customer engineering team

• Ability to lead technical design, review code, and set direction for other engineers on an engagement

• Ability to communicate clearly with a customer tech lead and translate day-to-day requests into well-scoped engineering work

USEFUL QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior work on a security or policy platform team

• Prior experience as an embedded contractor on a customer engineering team

SCOPE AND DELIVERY EXPECTATIONS

The following covers the scope of work we anticipate the contractor supporting throughout the project. This scope is in line with our expectations of the project but is subject to change.

• Support day-to-day backend integration work and policy platform use cases for the customer, delivering changes in Golang against MongoDB, Snowflake, and AWS-hosted services

• Own technical design for assigned integrations from definition through delivery, and document design decisions for the customer tech lead and delivery stakeholders

• Deliver work to the customer's technical standards, following the code review, testing, and deployment practices established by the customer's team

• Provide technical direction and code review for the Senior Security Platform Engineer (IC4) staffed on the same engagement

• Onboard rapidly and begin contributing to integration work early in the engagement

• Communicate progress, risks, and blockers promptly to the customer tech lead and delivery stakeholders
