Requisition Summary
The PACCAR Global Powertrain Validation department at the PACCAR Technical Center in Mount Vernon, WA is seeking a highly motivated Data Analysis Engineer for internal combustion engine and battery electric vehicle programs. This role is responsible for supporting data acquisition on our validation and field test fleets and utilizing data collected to understand how customers utilize the vehicles. This information will then be translated into test requirements, reliability correlation, and drive cycle development. Information will also need to be displayed in a dashboard format to make data easily accessible visually for common metrics.
The Data Analysis Engineer will be a bridge between the validation teams, and the Engineering Solutions team who develop software tools for the division. Analysis scripts developed will be compatible with the data storage and ingest tools developed by the Engineering Solutions team. The position requires a technical understanding of vehicle testing, large data analysis, and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to both engineering teams and management.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain content functions for MATLAB-based analysis, writing clean, well-documented code and performing testing, debugging, and optimization
- Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into functional MATLAB solutions and dashboard visualizations.
- Suggest relevant visualizations and analysis to assist in understanding and documenting fleet use
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and code comments to support knowledge transfer, maintenance, and end-user training.
- Stay current with MATLAB and related technologies, proactively identifying opportunities to improve tools, processes, and workflows.
- Up to 10% of travel (domestic and international)
Qualifications
- 5 years of test data analysis within automotive sector or related experience.
- Experience developing dashboards and visualizations in Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in MATLAB programming, including function development, large dataset processing, and plotting
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development best practices
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
