We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist

In this role, you will:

- Own and produce end-to-end solution designs for new features, market onboardings, and platform changes. Define integration patterns between RTP microservices, scheme adapters, and external systems

- Translate business and scheme requirements into detailed User story specifications consumable by engineering teams. Validate proposed solutions against NFR targets and platform constraints before build commences

- Act as the techno-functional bridge between Product, Business, and Engineering. Participate in scheme interpretation workshops — translating regulatory and scheme rule changes into platform impact assessments

- Support Architects and product owners in refining requirements to the level required for engineering consumption. Conduct functional impact assessments for change requests — identifying affected services, data flows, and downstream dependencies

- Review solution artefacts produced by other team members for correctness, completeness, and alignment to architecture standards. Participate in design reviews and architecture forums. Ensure designs comply with HSBC technology standards, security policies, and data governance requirements

- Contribute to test scenario definition — ensuring functional and non-functional test coverage reflects the solution design. Engage with MT leads, architects, internal interface teams and external scheme operators to clarify requirements and validate solutions

- Support sprint planning and backlog refinement by breaking down epics into well-defined, estimable user stories. Provide functional expertise during UAT and SIT — supporting defect triage and resolution from a business logic perspective

- Assist with market go-live readiness — solution validation, operational handover, and runbook documentation

To be successful, you will:

- Real-Time Payment Schemes - Deep understanding of RTP/IP scheme rules, clearing, settlement, and scheme connectivity (e.g., SWIFT, SEPA Inst, FPS, UAEFTS, STC Pay equivalent schemes)

- ISO 20022 Messaging - Ability to interpret, map, and design around pacs.008, pacs.002, camt messages — understanding field-level semantics

- Payment Lifecycle - End-to-end understanding — origination, routing, validation, processing, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling

- Scheme Compliance & Rules - Awareness of scheme mandates, cutover timelines, format validations, and compliance obligations

- Market Onboarding - Experience supporting or leading new market / corridor onboarding from a functional and solution perspective

- Microservices Architecture - Ability to design service boundaries, define APIs, and produce High level solution design

- Data Flow & Sequencing - Able to produce and validate sequence diagrams, data flow diagrams, and interaction models across services

- Integration Patterns - Experience with synchronous and asynchronous integration, retry strategies, fallback pattern, Non-Functional Requirements - Ability to define and validate NFRs — latency, throughput, availability, scalability, and resilience targets
