Certified Pool Operator (CPO)

Pay Range

$12.77 – $25.00 per hour , depending on experience, certifications, tenure, and demonstrated performance. This role includes structured pay progression based on technical skill, reliability, and excellence in maintaining safe and compliant aquatic environments.

Objective

To oversee and maintain pool water quality and safety in accordance with State and County guidelines, and to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of all pool mechanical systems and components.

Aquatic Manager (AM)

Criteria

- Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification

- Current CPR and AED Certification

- Proficient oral, written, and technology communication skills (email/text)

- Provide the highest quality customer service with a welcoming, friendly, energetic, and positive attitude; use members names whenever possible

- Follow all Service Standards, Training Manuals, Policy Manuals, and department‑specific handbooks

- Know and follow the clubs emergency response protocol; prioritize safety and sound judgment

- Arrive 10 minutes early in proper department‑specific uniform

- Actively participate in department and club meetings

- Contribute to club and organizational goals as a collaborative team member

- Maintain open, honest communication with the team and partner together as fitness professionals

Certified Pool Operator Responsibilities

- Maintain safe, clean, and properly balanced pool water in accordance with State and County regulations

- Test water quality, record findings, and adjust chemical levels as needed

- Perform preventative maintenance on pool systems, pumps, filters, heaters, and related equipment

- Maintain inventory of chemicals and reagents; ensure proper storage and handling

- Notify the AM of equipment needs, malfunctions, or safety concerns

- Keep the pump room and Aquatics area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation related to pool operations, testing logs, maintenance records, and regulatory requirements

- Stay active and current with AFF‑approved certifications, including CPR/AED and any specialty aquatic certifications

- Participate in AFF‑recommended education, workshops, trainings, events, meetings, and upskilling opportunities

- Wear appropriate attire to ensure safety while handling chemicals and equipment

- Input and manage your weekly work schedule in the clubs scheduling platform by established deadlines, maintaining full accountability for schedule accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to club staffing need

- Perform other duties as reasonably assigned
