Electrical Engineer MEP Design | 100% Remote

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team in a 100% remote position . The company is based in New York City, but this role offers the flexibility to work remotely while supporting a diverse portfolio of building design projects. This opportunity is ideal for an electrical engineer with 6+ years of MEP/building systems design experience who is comfortable managing projects independently, producing complete electrical design packages, and collaborating virtually with multidisciplinary project teams. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with AutoCAD and Revit , electrical distribution and lighting design, load calculations, and applicable building and electrical codes.

Responsibilities

- Independently design electrical systems for building projects from concept through construction documentation.
- Develop complete lighting, power, and electrical systems design packages using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations, panel schedules, and distribution system design .
- Design and coordinate electrical rooms, equipment layouts, feeders, panels, and associated building systems.
- Perform COMcheck lighting calculations and ensure designs meet applicable energy-code requirements.
- Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, energy codes, and other applicable requirements throughout the design process.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines.
- Participate in virtual project meetings with internal teams, architects, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Review shop drawings and submittals independently.
- Provide redlines, technical guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Support projects from initial design and coordination through construction administration.
- Manage project responsibilities, deadlines, and deliverables effectively in a remote work environment.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 6+ years of professional electrical design experience , preferably within an MEP consulting or building design environment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit .
- Experience developing complete electrical construction documents and design packages.
- Strong knowledge of lighting, power distribution, panel schedules, electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations, and distribution systems .
- Experience with ground-up construction, multifamily, residential, and/or developer-driven projects .
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA standards, energy codes, and applicable building codes .
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- EIT or PE license/certification .
- Experience leading electrical portions of multidisciplinary MEP projects.
- Previous experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior engineers and designers.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
