About the Opportunity

As part of the Infrastructure Program, the Graduate Spatial & Asset Officer will use data, technology and spatial thinking to help shape how the City of Adelaide plans, manages and delivers its services. You’ll contribute to projects that bring together GIS, asset information and data to help the City make better-informed decisions.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across spatial analysis, mapping, data quality, asset management, dashboards and spatial systems, while contributing to projects such as the City’s ESRI upgrade. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore emerging technologies, including how artificial intelligence could be used within GIS and spatial data workflows.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Graduated within the last two years or are expecting to graduate within approximately the next 6 months in Spatial Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geoinformatics, Surveying and Spatial Sciences, Asset Management, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Environmental Science or a related discipline.

- Understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data management and mapping principles, preferably with ESRI ArcGIS products, gained through tertiary studies, project work or practical experience.

- Foundational knowledge of spatial analysis, data quality management and the interpretation of spatial and asset information.

- Skills and knowledge in conducting research to inform best practice and evidence-based approaches.

- Ability to provide welcoming, responsive and respectful customer service to colleagues and community members, with a commitment to continuous learning, professional development and applying feedback.

- Ability to take ownership and accountability for deliverables.

- Skilled in communication and being able to present effectively both orally and written.

- Strong organisational skills, the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.

- Hone your skills: Opportunities to develop a broad range of transferable skills relevant to various government roles federal, state and local.
