CNC Machinist

IMG is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced CNC Machinist to join our operations on a full-time, permanent basis in East Tamaki.

This role is primarily responsible for operating and setting up our CNC horizontal boring machine to manufacture, modify, and repair components to precise engineering specifications. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement while working in a busy operational workshop environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

- Set up, operate, and monitor our Fanuc controlled CNC horizontal boring machine.
- Manufacture, modify, and repair components to required tolerances and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and job instructions.
- Select appropriate tooling, equipment, and machining methods to achieve required outcomes.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records as required.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and equipment checks.
- Identify and resolve machining issues to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and workshop personnel to meet production schedules and operational deadlines.

Skills and Experience Required

- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Fitting & Turning, or a recognised overseas equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' relevant CNC machining experience.
- Proven experience programming and operating Fanuc controlled CNC machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and measurement equipment.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desirable / Advantageous Skills

- Experience using Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar control systems.
- Experience machining large-scale components.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or rigging experience.
- Experience working in heavy engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance environments.
