Reporting Relationships
- Reports to the Manager Mail & Print Services.
Essential Job Functions
- Processing outgoing mail via computer-based shipping system and ensuring related accurate record keeping.
- Operate printers, bindery equipment, and other production machines in the Print Services area.
- Completes mail runs to distribute mail and pick up outgoing mail.
- Responsible for daily pickups and delivery of mail to and from the Kirkwood Post Office.
- Consult with and advise customers on options for achieving the best possible print quality and meeting customer expectations.
- Maintain paper supplies for all printers and copiers in the 1333 building.
- Distribute 10733 mail and other materials from USPS, Print Services, Central Supplies and the 1333 Receiving Dock.
- Assembling mailings with the use of the 4-station inserter and folder.
- Assembling bulk mailings in zip code order from low to high and sorting according to Postal standards.
- Staff the service window and answer telephones to collect work requests and communicate completion estimates/manage customer expectations on behalf of absent team members.
- Deliver all time sensitive and signature required parcels through the 1333 building – obtaining signatures and maintaining accurate records.
- Consult with and advise customers on options for achieving the best possible print quality and meeting customer expectations.
- Assist with coordination of large shipments to Conventions.
- Processing outgoing mail via computer-based shipping system and ensuring related accurate record keeping.
- Participate in special projects.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma.
- Two years experience in a mid-size or larger Mail and Print Services environment – a Mail and Print Services area that operates with an annual budget of at least $250,000.
- USPS special training and familiarity with shipping processes and regulations are desired but not required.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Ability to operate MS Office products– especially MS Word and MS Excel and TEAMS.
- Proficient in computer-based shipping systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel/management/membership of Synod.
- Supports the team concept by maintaining a positive working relationship with team members and other service units.
- Local travel as needed to perform primary position responsibilities.
- Must have a good driving record.
- Available to work unusual or long hours occasionally/rarely, including holidays and Sundays, to support department operations.
- Knowledge of USPS, FedEx, DHL and other carriers processing, pricing, and documentation standards.
- Operate battery-operated pallet jack, major shipping/postage systems, high speed printers and other print and mail services equipment including folders, inserters, and labelers.
- Proven ability to work independently, plan daily work, and assist in establishing priorities to achieve units required objectives.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must maintain the highest level of integrity, be customer oriented, and maintain a positive attitude.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position has no supervisory responsibility.
