POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrical SME serves as the technical authority for high voltage electrical power generation systems, providing advanced expertise across large scale gas turbine driven generator platforms, associated auxiliary electrical systems, and balance of plant power distribution. This role supports the full product lifecycle, including electrical system architecture, equipment selection, system studies, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, field troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and sustaining engineering, while driving electrical design standards and mentoring engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable, and maintainable, scalable power generation solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may")

- Serve as the technical authority for high voltage electrical power generation systems, supporting the design, integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support of 35 MW, 70 MW, and similar utility scale generator platforms.

- Lead the development, review, and standardization of electrical system architectures, including generators, excitation systems, medium and high voltage switchgear, transformers, protection relays, auxiliary power distribution, grounding, synchronization, and customer/grid interconnections.

- Develop and oversee generator protection and electrical design philosophies, including protection coordination, relay settings, trip and interlock logic, synchronization, and short circuit, load flow, arc flash, grounding, and other power system studies.

- Provide advanced technical support during FAT, commissioning, startup, synchronization, load testing, and field operations.

- Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities involving generator and high voltage electrical system issues.

- Review and approve critical engineering deliverables, including single line diagrams, schematics, equipment specifications, protection settings, electrical studies, generator interfaces, and high voltage equipment selections.

- Ensure electrical designs and deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements.

- Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Product Engineering, Product Service Engineering, Remote Operations, Manufacturing, Field Operations, customers, suppliers, and OEMs to resolve complex technical issues and integrate turbine generator packages with balance of plant and customer electrical infrastructure.

- Drive continuous improvement and technical standardization through operational data, field lessons learned, failure investigations, and emerging technologies.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams to improve the safety, reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance of the power generation fleet.

- Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

- Overtime based on business needs.

- Successfully passes all applicable general pre employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).

- Daily in person, predictable attendance.

- Valid U.S. Drivers License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.

- Proficiency in spoken English language.

- Ability to travel based on business needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

- Ten or more years of progressive electrical engineering experience within power generation, generator manufacturing, utility scale generation, or related heavy industrial environments.

- Significant experience supporting medium and high voltage generators in the 35 MW to 70+ MW class.

- Strong knowledge of generator and power system protection, including protective relays, CTs/PTs, differential and ground fault protection, generator transformer protection, and short circuit, load flow, protection coordination, arc flash, and grounding studies.

- Proven ability to develop, interpret, and technically review single line diagrams, protection and control schematics, generator datasheets, equipment specifications, electrical calculations, and system studies.

- Demonstrated expertise in large synchronous generators, excitation/AVR systems, generator protection, medium and high voltage switchgear, transformers, grounding, synchronization, and auxiliary power systems.

- Generator OEM experience, including work for or directly with major generator and power generation OEMs such as BRUSH, ABB, WEG, TDPS, Baker Hughes, or equivalent preferred.

- Experience supporting generator design, application engineering, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or lifecycle support preferred.

- Working knowledge of gas turbine driven generation platforms, including LM2500, LM6000, or similar industrial/aeroderivative equipment preferred.

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.

- An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

- Successfully complete New Hire Safety Orientation and annual recertification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee works primarily indoors and will be sitting for prolonged periods at a desk while typing on a computer, whether in a home office, corporate office, client office, or jobsite. When required to visit a wellsite, the work environment may include exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio levels up to 85 dB, inclement weather, and extreme temperatures (both hot and cold). Given these conditions, employees visiting a pad site are required to wear company mandated and company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, and impact gloves, and must strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Employees must be able to independently lift 25 lbs.

Work hours may include or includes early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on business necessity.
