Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Sr Electrical Engineer Job Description This role focuses on leading and reviewing complex electrical design documentation for power generation and oil and gas facilities, ensuring high-quality, code-compliant engineering deliverables. The Electrical Engineer designs and validates electrical systems, coordinates closely with multidisciplinary teams, and provides technical support across project specifications, proposals, and procurement activities. Responsibilities

- Review and validate electrical design documentation, including schematics, single line diagrams (SLD), relay settings, cable selection and calculations, raceway design, hazardous area classification, grounding studies, and selective coordination studies.
- Select and recommend appropriate electrical design solutions and prepare preliminary designs for power distribution and related systems.
- Develop detailed design plans, drawings, calculations, specifications, and layout for electrical systems in power generation and oil and gas projects.
- Coordinate electrical design activities with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, piping, and others to ensure integrated and consistent project deliverables.
- Review, approve, and stamp professional engineering documents, ensuring all issued documents meet professional and regulatory standards.
- Guarantee that only high-quality engineering documents are approved, authenticated, and released for construction or procurement.
- Support the preparation and continuous improvement of working procedures related to electrical engineering and design processes.
- Lead or contribute to the preparation of project electrical specifications, ensuring they align with industry codes, standards, and local regulations.
- Support project proposals by providing technical input and assisting with the preparation of material take-offs and other proposal-related documentation.
- Coordinate with other disciplines in the preparation and review of 3D models to ensure accurate representation of electrical systems and interfaces.
- Maintain effective communication between team members and disciplines to ensure mutual awareness of requirements, timely sharing of information, and optimal use of common resources.
- Comply with professional engineering concepts, ethics, and the applicable codes of the states where work is performed, particularly Texas and Louisiana.
- Specify and support the procurement of electrical equipment such as transformers (step-up and step-down), medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) switchgear, motor control centers (MCC), cables, raceways, lighting fixtures, and other miscellaneous electrical equipment.
- Apply strong understanding of vendor selection, technical specifications, and procurement processes to ensure appropriate equipment selection and cost-effective solutions.
- Provide specialized input on the design of high-voltage (HV) electrical equipment, including gas circuit breakers (GCB) and other specialized components.
- Use electrical design software tools such as ETAP and Intergraph Smart Electrical to perform system studies, modeling, and detailed design.
- Perform other related electrical engineering duties as required to support project execution and successful delivery.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Engineering.
- At least 8 years of experience in power generation or oil and gas projects.
- Extensive experience in the design of electrical systems for oil and gas and/or power generation facilities.
- Strong background in electrical engineering and electrical design for MV and LV power distribution systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical for creating and modifying electrical drawings and documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of industry electrical codes and standards, including local regulations in Texas and Louisiana.
- Experience specifying and procuring electrical equipment such as transformers (step-up and step-down), MV and LV switchgear, motor control centers (MCC), cables, raceways, lighting fixtures, and other miscellaneous electrical equipment.
- Demonstrated understanding of vendor selection, technical specifications, and procurement processes for electrical equipment.
- Specialized knowledge in the design of high-voltage (HV) electrical equipment, including gas circuit breakers (GCB).
- Proficiency with electrical design software such as ETAP and Intergraph Smart Electrical.
- Ability to review, approve, and stamp professional engineering documents in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure clear, consistent information sharing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Preferred: Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.
- Experience working on power distribution systems, including medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) networks.
- Experience in both power generation and oil and gas industry environments.
- Ability to develop and refine project specifications and working procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate engineering documentation.

Work Environment This position is primarily office-based, working in a professional engineering environment focused on power distribution and oil and gas projects. You will use industry-standard electrical design tools such as ETAP, Intergraph Smart Electrical, and AutoCAD Electrical, and collaborate closely with architectural, mechanical, piping, and other engineering disciplines. The work involves regular interaction with project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to coordinate designs, review documents, and support procurement and proposals. Standard office attire is expected, and the environment supports focused technical work, documentation review, and multidisciplinary coordination. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
