Veterinary Assistant

Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dependable and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build their veterinary skills and gain hands-on experience while working alongside an experienced and supportive team.

In this role, you will support outpatient appointments and exams, assist with patient care and handling, prepare for surgeries and procedures, and help maintain clean, organized exam, treatment, and surgical areas.

The ideal candidate is a team player who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to providing excellent patient and client care are essential.

Responsibilities include:

- Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care

- Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation

- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately

- Supporting veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care

- Building positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service

Schedule and compensation:

- Compensation: $ 18 - $20 per hour, for each hour worked

- This is a full-time or part-time position, with a flexible schedule and availability needed Monday, Friday, and Sunday.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

- 2+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred

- Proficiency in the following skills:

Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments

- Client communication and education

- Experience administering oral medications

- Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures

- Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred

- Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
