Mobile packet core group lead

In this role based in Madrid (Spain), you will lead Mobile Packet Core Technology and Planning across the Telefónica Group within the GCTIO organization. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the definition, selection, implementation, and evolution of mobile packet core technologies in close coordination with Telefónica’s operating businesses and key stakeholders.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and deep technical expertise to steer the evolution of the mobile core towards 6G.

You will be responsible for maximizing the value of core network capabilities to support Telefónica’s automation and monetization objectives, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), intent-based operations, and advanced network programmability.

You will play a key role in shaping the future network architecture and ensuring a consistent technology strategy across the Group, fostering innovation, operational efficiency, and new business opportunities

How will you contribute to this role? 🎯

- Define the Packet Core strategic vision to support current and future product requirements, deliver operational efficiencies and automation objectives

- Drive the evolution towards 6G architectures and standards.

- Lead technology selection and packet core implementation in the group in line with our multi vendor strategy. To achieve this objective you will be require to coordinate our vision with our operating businesses, finance, procurement and other departments such as Access, IT, Security, procurement and finance

- Drive vendor roadmaps and capabilities

- Introduce AI in packet core architecture to enhance automation and open new monetization opportunities

- Collaborate with cloud and automation team to ensure life cycle management based on intents

- Collaborate with product teams to ensure that packet core can deliver service and monetization roadmap

- Drive industry and standards to ensure that Telefonica vision is endorsed in line with defined strategy

- Build efficiencies projects to meet budget targets and telefonica staretgic plan

What skills and key capabilities we are looking for? 🔎

- 5 years + of experience in a similar role

- Strong experience and knowledge in mobile packet core technology and architecture

- Leadership capabilities to drive projects and teams towards objectives

- Team work in multi cultural environment

- Experience in AI and Agentic AI in order to build and execute projects to meet AI for network and network for AI capabilities within packet core domain

- Experience in participating and contributing in the telco standards and industry ecosystem

- Knowledge and experience in cloud native infrastructures

- Fluent in Spanish and English
