In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of SARS-CoV-2 virus or enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. We are the most prominent production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition of over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering, and logistics among us.

At the Sample Prep and Analysis (SPA) group, we develop and maintain software solutions that automate the operation of Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs). Our technology enables customers in the semiconductor industry to identify manufacturing defects, accelerate research, and improve the reliability, performance, and energy efficiency of next-generation semiconductor devices.

What will you be working on?

We are looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to help deliver high-quality software across our product portfolio.

In this role, you will work closely with software engineers, product owners, system architects, and domain experts to ensure our software meets high standards of reliability, performance, and user experience. You will contribute to quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle, design and execute test strategies, develop and maintain automated tests, and help identify opportunities to improve testing processes and product quality.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with software that controls highly sophisticated scientific instruments with nanometer precision in an international R&D environment. You will apply modern quality engineering practices, leverage test automation and AI-assisted testing approaches, and contribute to the robustness of software that supports the development and production of the world’s most advanced semiconductor chips and memory technologies.

Responsibilities:

- Participating on all phases of product development cycle as SQA engineer.
- Support agile team in collaboration, problem solving, so that team can deliver high quality, innovative software on time.
- Develop and sustain relationships with vendors and joint development partners that support and accelerate the team’s development activities.
- Guard the software quality, development processes and their implementation in the organisation.
- Verifying accurate functionality of product features
- Verifying bug fixes
- Maintaining test scenario documentation
- Preparing SQA recommendation reports
- Identify risks during execution and help with their mitigation.

Education/Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field required
- 3+ years in agile software development
- Experience with software development process

- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to use data and metrics to identify and address problems and drive continuous improvement
- Focus on quality and robustness
- Python expertise
- Desire and ability to work in an international context and diverse R&D team that is multi-disciplinary
- Highly motivated teammate with a strong desire for continuous learning and broadening knowledge base.
- A love of science and a desire for continuous learning
- Desire to learn how to work with high-end hardware equipment
- Experience with API testing, including RESTful services and tools such as Swagger / OpenAPI
- Solid understanding of general web application testing principles (functional, regression, exploratory)
- Practical knowledge of at least one web automation framework or test driver, such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress

- We are using C#, .NET standard, Python
- We are developing applications for Windows
- For regression testing we use Robot Framework
- For Dev-Ops we are using GitLab environment and Jira for bug tracking
- For image processing and AI we use OpenCV
- Other technologies we are using Elastic stack, Docker, Kubernetes
