Biobank Technician

VHIR is offering a position for a Biobank Technician within the Biobank Unit (Core Facilities).

The Vall d’Hebron University Hospital Biobank is a research support unit that collects and processes human biological samples for biomedical research purposes, in compliance with current legislation. Its objective is to provide the scientific community with the biological material required to support high-quality research under optimal conditions, contributing to research excellence and competitiveness.

Main responsibilities and duties:

- Reception and processing of human biological samples in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), including:

Registration of samples and associated data in the Biobank database.
- Sample processing, including DNA and RNA extraction, serum and plasma separation, sample aliquoting, and mononuclear cell separation.
- Sample storage and management.
- Preparation and delivery of samples in response to requests from research projects.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards and procedures.
- Stock control and placing orders for laboratory supplies.
- Maintenance, monitoring and verification of laboratory equipment.

- Coordination with the Obesity Bank recruitment team.
- Data entry and management of clinical information associated with human biological samples.

Education and qualifications:

Required:

- Higher Vocational Education and Training qualification (FPII/CFGS).

Desirable:

- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Health Sciences or a related field.
- English level B2 or above.

Experience and knowledge:

Required:

- Previous experience in the healthcare sector.

Desirable:

- At least one year’s previous experience as a laboratory technician processing biological samples or working in a biobank.
- Knowledge of procedures for the processing, handling and storage of human biological samples.

Labour conditions:

- Working hours : Full-time (00 hours per week).
- Starting date : As soon as possible.
- Gross annual salary : Remuneration will be determined by experience, skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale.
