## Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. ## Job Summary:

The Lead Structural Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, coordination, and execution of structural steel construction operations across assigned project areas. This position serves as the senior field leader for structural steel activities and is accountable for safe, efficient, and high-quality execution in accordance with approved design documents, specifications, schedule, budget, project procedures, and quality requirements. The role also provides leadership, training, career development, and oversight to multiple Structural Superintendents while coordinating resources, priorities, schedules, productivity, safety performance, and quality expectations across the project. #LI-ME1

## Major Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and training to multiple Structural Superintendents, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, and structural steel field teams; align assignments with project priorities and monitor execution across multiple work fronts.
- Establish structural steel execution strategies, work plans, crew and erection sequencing, access plans, crane and rigging coordination, and workface readiness across assigned project areas.
- Determine workforce needs and support development of construction methods, schedules, personnel resources, material, tool, and equipment requirements using installation work packages.
- Coordinate structural steel work with Field Engineering, Project Controls, Procurement, Subcontracts, adjacent disciplines, construction management, and client representatives; resolve technical, interface, and constructability issues.
- Review progress, installed quantities, cost, schedule, productivity, and forecast information; implement corrective actions and support recovery planning when execution deviates from project objectives.
- Ensure operations comply with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, project procedures, subcontract requirements, inspection and testing requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality standards; confirm design changes are approved before implementation.
- Ensure materials, cranes, rigging, tools, equipment, and access are available for safe, efficient, and quality installation; monitor direct hire and subcontractor execution for compliance.
- Implement corporate and project policies and champion Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy while developing Structural Superintendents through coaching, feedback, and knowledge transfer.

## Education and Experience Requirements:

- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

## Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Extensive knowledge of structural steel construction, including material control, erection planning, connections, bolting, welding interfaces, alignment, plumbing, decking interfaces, inspection, testing, and acceptance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, mentor, and develop multiple Structural Superintendents, Craft Professionals, and subcontractors in a large, schedule-driven project environment.
- Ability to plan and execute structural steel work using installation work packages, short-interval planning, workface readiness, quantity tracking, productivity monitoring, material readiness, Advanced Work Packaging principles, and project controls information.
- In-depth knowledge of cranes and rigging for structural steel erection, OSHA 1926 Subpart R, drawings, specifications, connection details, codes, standards, inspection requirements, RFIs, field changes, and constructability requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills, with experience supervising direct hire and Union craft workforces, administering subcontract responsibilities, and using current Bechtel Standard Application Program tools.
