What you will do:

The Director, Banking Continental Europe will be part of the COO Banking Continental Europe team which provides the strategic, commercial, and operational support to the Head of Banking, Continental Europe and the Banking teams in CE. The role will report to the Chief Operating Officer Banking Continental Europe and be part of the wider COO CIB Banking Europe & Americas perimeter.

The role owner will support the team head in managing the COO Banking CE perimeter as well as will take ownership in key areas within the wide range of the team’s agenda - ranging from (i) strategy and project driven workload, (ii) client centricity related tasks, (iii) analytics with focus on financial performance, (iv) budgeting, cost & workforce management, (v) governance preparation, (vi) collaboration, (vii) people & communication, (viii) managing the senior management agenda.

Principle Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the implementation of the CIB Banking strategy in Continental Europe.

- Drive the forward-looking agenda of the CIB Banking business. Add to strategic considerations and growth ambitions based on market research and peer group analysis.

- Ensure end-to-end project management on behalf of the COO Banking CE.

- Monitor the business performance and develop relevant management information tools to allow the tracking against targets on revenue generation, cross border / cross product collaboration, customer satisfaction and cost management. Benchmark performance against target across the various sites and teams in Banking CE.

- Develop and maintain ‘trusted advisor’ relationship with front end partners to support client centricity of the Banking teams across CE.

- Drive the client selection, client review and client planning exercises in CE.

- Manage the agenda of the Head of Banking Continental Europe, ensuring highest standards in submissions on behalf of the Head of Banking within given deadlines.

- Contribute to the people & communication agenda of the Head of Banking Continental Europe via townhalls, onsite and other formats of people engagement.

- Manage appropriate governance requirements for the Banking business in Continental Europe.

- Support front end in adoption of business processes and front line technology.

- Proactively engaging with peers across the Banking, COO, CIB and infrastructure community in the CE to ensure strong communication and escalation of risk and business issues.

- Live a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture.

- Support the COO Banking Continental Europe in the day-to-day management of the COO Banking Continental Europe perimeter

You should apply if you have:

- Strong understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives across the Group.

- Relevant and demonstrable experience in global financial services, supported by industry expertise, professional qualifications and a proven ability to work effectively in dynamic teams.

- Understanding of HSBC Group, CIB and products, and a good network of contacts across all business areas.

- Strong analytical understanding and ability to translate complex situations into message driven presentations.

- Experience in strategy execution and transformation.

- Resilience in managing a workload under tight timelines to drive outstanding team performance and to ensure delivery of objectives on a timely and efficient manner.

- A role model of HSBC values and demonstrates a high level of personal integrity; ethical behaviour always and inspires trust.

- Strong Powerpoint and Excel skill set.

- Fluent in English and ideally in French.

The pay range for this role is €116,900 - €160,000.
