Job Title: Material Control Coordinator Job Description
The Material Control Coordinator supports daily production and inventory activities by tracking materials, processing inventory movements, and preparing reports to keep operations running smoothly. This role works closely with warehouse, production, and other internal teams, as well as vendors, to ensure materials are available when needed and inventory records remain accurate.
Responsibilities
- Track and update daily inventory levels and material usage to support accurate production planning.
- Run basic daily and monthly reports related to inventory, production, and material control.
- Process material movements, including trip and receive transactions, to keep systems and records up to date.
- Print and prepare pick slips for warehouse teams to support timely material picking and shipping.
- Update production and sales reports to reflect current activity and material status.
- Communicate with internal teams and external vendors as needed to resolve material or inventory issues.
- Create purchase orders when required to maintain appropriate stock levels and support ongoing operations.
- Order supplies, safety gear, and signage to ensure teams have the materials and equipment they need.
- Help coordinate meetings, events, or team needs related to material control and production activities.
- Remain available on-call when urgent material or inventory issues arise and require prompt attention.
- Use RF scan guns and labeling processes to support accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
- Support warehouse management, shipping and receiving activities, and production control processes as needed.
Essential Skills
- 12 years of related experience in inventory control, production control, material planning, or warehouse management, or a two-year degree.
- Experience with inventory control and material planning in a warehouse or production environment.
- Ability to perform data entry and prepare basic reports accurately and efficiently.
- Comfort using a computer and basic software, including Excel, email, and internal systems.
- Ability to perform basic math and work comfortably with numbers.
- Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and vendors.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes and documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with planning and scheduling in a production or warehouse setting.
- Background in warehouse management and material handling processes.
- Hands-on experience using RF scan guns for inventory and material tracking.
- Experience with labeling and documentation for shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
- Exposure to production reporting and sales reporting tools or systems.
- Interest in growing within material control, inventory management, or production support roles.
- Motivation to take advantage of opportunities for advancement in a supportive team environment.
Work Environment
This role operates in a combined office and manufacturing setting within a warehouse and plant environment. Training hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. for approximately two weeks, depending on how quickly you learn the role. Regular shift hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, involving regular interaction with warehouse, production, and plant areas. Safety equipment is required when walking in the plant, and adherence to all safety procedures is expected. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
