Best Practices in Capacity Risk Management in Off-Road Manufacturing Supply Chains
What you will do
At Volvo Construction Equipment, you will contribute to the development of more resilient and future-ready supply chains. As part of this thesis project, you will:
- Investigate best practices in supplier capacity risk management across relevant manufacturing industries.
- Conduct an extensive literature review and industry benchmark study covering sectors such as construction equipment, automotive, heavy vehicles and industrial manufacturing.
- Identify how companies identify capacity constraints before they impact operations and how they convert insights into preventive actions.
- Explore topics including supplier capacity assessment methods, early-warning indicators, digital tools, governance models and supplier collaboration mechanisms.
- Engage with Volvo stakeholders, suppliers and industry experts through interviews and workshops.
- Develop recommendations for strengthening future capacity risk management capabilities within Volvo Construction Equipment.
- Propose a framework and future-state solution for proactive supplier capacity risk monitoring and governance.

Your future team
You will be part of the Supplier Development organization within Volvo Construction Equipment and work closely with experienced professionals involved in supply chain resilience, supplier development and business operations. Throughout the project, you will collaborate with stakeholders across purchasing, supply chain management and manufacturing while receiving guidance from subject matter experts. The team values curiosity, collaboration, continuous learning and turning insights into practical business improvements.

Essential qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Data Analytics or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in manufacturing, supply chains, risk management and operational excellence.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present findings in a structured manner.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Meritorious qualifications
- Experience with data analysis and visualization.
- Knowledge of supply chain resilience, risk management or supplier management concepts.
- Experience conducting research, benchmarking studies or process mapping.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, automotive, heavy vehicle or industrial sectors.
Most importantly, you are curious, proactive and motivated to combine academic rigor with practical business impact.
