What you will do
As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op in our Body in White operations in Kings Mountain, NC, you will help improve process stability, efficiency, quality, and safety in a fast-paced production environment. From day one, you will contribute to real projects focused on process optimization, tooling improvement, digitalization, and continuous improvement.You will:
- Conduct time studies and analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities
- Support process restoration and standardization to improve flow, cycle times, and operational stability
- Assist with fixture and tooling evaluation for BIW assembly equipment
- Help implement digital tools and visual management solutions that improve problem-solving and decision-making
- Participate in kaizen workshops and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers and production teams to deliver practical, measurable results
Your future team
You will be part of a hands-on manufacturing engineering team committed to improving Body in White operations as production volumes grow. We are redesigning processes, tools, and fixtures while strengthening standards and documentation for long-term success.

Essential requirements
- Currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering
- Co-ops are not enrolled in academic courses during their co-op rotation and may work up to 40 hours per week
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interest in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization
- Ability to work hands-on in a production environment
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Nice to have
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, time studies, or industrial engineering methods
- Experience with Office 365, Power BI, or Power Automate,AI tools
- Interest in data-driven problem-solving and manufacturing digitalization
- Previous academic or internship experience in automotive or manufacturing

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
