The Buyer III is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for independently managing complex purchasing and procurement activities to ensure the timely acquisition of quality materials, supplies, and services at competitive cost. The position manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and commercial terms, supports sourcing strategies, monitors supplier performance, and partners with internal stakeholders to meet operational and inventory requirements. The Buyer III also serves as a knowledgeable resource within the purchasing function and may provide guidance to less-experienced team members without direct supervisory responsibility.
Core Responsibilities

· Independently manage assigned purchasing and procurement activities for materials, supplies, and services.

· Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, lead times, and agreements with suppliers to achieve favorable cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.

· Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and identify opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

· Review and analyze purchase requisitions for accuracy, specifications, proper approvals, and compliance with purchasing requirements.

· Manage the purchase order lifecycle from requisition through delivery, receipt, invoice resolution, and payment support.

· Monitor inventory levels, material requirements, and demand signals and coordinate replenishment to support operational needs.

· Evaluate supplier performance using appropriate KPIs, scorecards, quality measures, delivery performance, and service expectations.

· Resolve complex supply, quality, delivery, pricing, and invoicing issues in partnership with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

· Apply purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.

· Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, pricing trends, and sourcing alternatives to support procurement decisions.

· Serve as a senior purchasing resource by sharing knowledge and providing guidance to other purchasing team members as needed.

· Ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and internal controls, including SOX requirements where applicable.

· Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Planning, and other departments to support business and production requirements.

· Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, and procurement records within applicable ERP/MRP and purchasing systems.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

· Typically 5+ years of progressively responsible purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience; manufacturing experience preferred.

· Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor performance and commercial relationships.

· Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software; proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office preferred.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and communication skills.

· Working knowledge of purchasing processes, inventory management, supplier management, and internal controls.

· Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment on moderately complex purchasing matters.

Preferred Qualifications

· Professional certification such as CPSM, CPP, CPIM, or a related supply chain/procurement credential.

· Experience supporting a manufacturing or production environment.

· Experience with supplier performance metrics, cost analysis, strategic sourcing, and process improvement initiatives.

Compensation Range: $95,000-$100,000 annually
