Mechanic

Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for a Mechanic located at our headquarters in Grand Forks, ND.

The pay rate for this position begins at $32.92 per hour. Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and any previous relevant experience.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.

- Use hydraulic jack or hoist to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.

- Remove, disassemble, or inspect engine, transmission, differential, or parts for wear using wrenches and hoist.

- Repair or replace parts.

- Rewire ignition system, lights and instrument panel.

- Realign and adjust brakes and replaces shock absorbers.

- Replace and adjust headlights.

- Install and repair accessories such as heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers.

- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.

- Perform overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines.

- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance performed.

- Assure proper equipment operations and qualified to work on same and assist or operate equipment for proper function.

- Respond to field breakdown and emergency repair situations when required.

- Operate various types of test equipment for engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

- Comply with all applicable safe work practices and rules set forth by company, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Two-year automotive and diesel mechanic degree from an accredited program or equivalent experience.

- 4 years experience in automotive and diesel mechanics.

- Ability to read, write and comprehend instruction manuals.

- Knowledge of and ability to perform air and hydraulic brake systems repairs and maintenance.

- Knowledge of and ability to perform D.O.T. regulations and required inspections.

- Welding and fabrication experience.

- Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to obtain and maintain
