ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objective of the Process Engineer-In-Training is to support and assist improve the performance of the plant operations through process and quality data analysis, field measurements, equipment inspections . The Process EIT spends time in the field to gain understanding on the various processes that are influencing the cement process efficiency, quality of the cement product, the impact of the process on the environment and is able to assist and recommend action for process optimization .

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

- Conduct Hazard Assessments and Field-Level Risk Assessments to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks in the workplace

- Maintain and analyze operation trends from daily, weekly and ensure the operation is within the optimal identified process targets

- Assist and follow up on process control to ensure the product produced is within quality targets and meets the customer needs

- Conduct routine process inspections and assist in process audits and recommend improvement actions

- Participate in process, production and quality meetings and collaborate with the production and quality teams to proactively address issues and ensure targets are reached

- Follow up and maintain calibration records of process tools and instrumentation

- Ensure grinding media top -ups in the mills are carried and follow up on the inventory management and consumption planning

- Tracking and assist in thermal and electrical energy efficiency, implementing best practices and monitoring performance

- Analyzes the environmental impacts of process control and that the operation meets environmental regulatory requirements

- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Education: Bachelor’s degree

- Field of Study Preferred: Chemical or Process Engineering is required. Other engineering fields (i.e., Mechanical, Geologic, Metallurgical, Electrical, and Industrial) may be considered

- Required Work Experience: Entry level

- Required Training/Certifications: Registered EIT or eligible for registration as an EIT with Professional Engineers of Ontario

- Travel Requirements: 10%

- Demonstrate effectiveness working in a team environment

- Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

- Strong organizational skills, and a proven ability to perform under pressure

- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant personnel

- Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals

- Flexible to work depending on plant needs

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
