Primary Purpose
The Labeling Technician is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by preparing, applying, and distributing product labels and labeled containers. This position operates and maintains labeling equipment, verifies label accuracy, manages labeling materials and inventory, assists with production labeling activities, fulfills container and supply requests, and coordinates with Production, Purchasing, Scheduling, Inventory Control, Receiving, and outside vendors to ensure production requirements and schedules are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce product labels for Production departments in accordance with production schedules, specifications, and assigned requests.
- Verify labels for accuracy, including product information, lot numbers, dates, quantities, and other required information before use.
- Operate, set up, maintain, and troubleshoot labeling and label application equipment.
- Assemble, operate, and maintain label application equipment while assisting Labeling Technicians and Production personnel in meeting production goals.
- Apply labels to containers and other packaging materials in accordance with established procedures and quality requirements.
- Serve as a backup to other Labeling Technicians and assist with labeling batches as needed.
- Monitor label, container, and packaging material inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available for production.
- Order, receive, store, organize, and distribute labels, containers, cartons, and other labeling materials.
- Communicate with Production personnel to ensure labeled containers and printed materials are completed accurately and delivered according to schedule.
- Deliver labels, labeled containers, and related materials to Production departments, remote locations, and approved vendors as needed.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure containers, packaging materials, and labeling supplies are available to support production requirements.
- Maintain stores inventory and fulfill supply requests for Production, vendors, and remote locations.
- Fulfill container requests for Shipping, Distribution Centers, transfer trucks, and vendors.
- Monitor upcoming purchase orders and rotate inventory to support inbound shipments and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Communicate regularly with Purchasing regarding upcoming purchase orders and production material requirements.
- Utilize Microsoft Office, Oracle ERP, email, internet resources, and printing or labeling software to complete daily responsibilities.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, walking dollies, and other material-handling equipment.
- Collect, package, and prepare used toner cartridges and other applicable materials for recycling or disposal through approved vendors.
- Recommend improvements to work methods, equipment, labeling processes, and operating procedures to the Lead Person or Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Operate computers and business software to support labeling, production, inventory, and material-handling functions.
- Operate commercial labeling and label application equipment.
- Stand and/or walk for extended periods, typically up to six hours per shift.
- Frequently lift, push, or pull materials weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, walking dollies, and other material-handling equipment.
- Perform repetitive labeling, material-handling, and packaging activities as required.
- Work effectively in a manufacturing environment while meeting production schedules and quality requirements.

Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to operate labeling and label application equipment.
- Ability to read and follow production schedules, work instructions, and labeling requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify labeling errors or discrepancies.
- Knowledge of Tnemec container and packaging requirements preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple departments in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet production schedules.
- Previous manufacturing, labeling, packaging, warehouse, or material-handling experience preferred.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience with Oracle ERP or similar inventory systems preferred.

The Labeling Technician is expected to follow all established procedures for the safe operation of labeling equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
