Bartelt Packaging is looking for a Shipping Clerk to join its team. As a Shipping Clerk, you will prepares items for outgoing shipment and keeps records of items shipped.

Does this work interest you?

- Retrieves sales order from Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP); picks correct part from inventory, verifying quantity, part number, and shipping address of items for outgoing shipments against sales orders.  Process short shipment requisition forms from various departments and ships items requested.
- Reviews and selects sales order ship via and / or determine best method of shipment for small package and LTL freight, utilizing UPS, FedEx or other carriers as deemed appropriate.  Evaluate cost/benefit for shipping method selected to ensure cost competitiveness.
- Arranges all LTL and Full Container shipping logistics for parts and machines, while ensuring cost competitiveness or cost reductions.
- Assembles or manufacturers shipping containers/crates (when feasible), packs items with care to ensure parts and components arrive at correct customer’s facility, intact and undamaged.  Coordinate and monitor outside crating company for nonstandard crate services.
- Weighs package and affixes shipping labels/ packing list/ special instructions on packages.  Organizes and stages shipments for carrier pickup.
- Manages shipping schedule, process and prioritize shipments to meet our customer requirements and our On-time Shipping Performance standard.  Minimize shipping errors as measured by monthly Shipping Error metric.
- Works with Parts Department to ensure critical sales ordered entered after 3:00 pm EST are processed and shipped as requested.
- Stages or consolidates international or customer specific orders weekly to reduce freight and customs clearance cost to the customer.
- Documents with photos and files, international parts and machine shipments for record keeping purposes.
- Accurately records outgoing shipments daily in ERP system and complete / distribute all necessary documentation to other departments.
- Assist others in the Materials Department, Warehousing and Receiving when requested.
- Responsible to monitor, store and order all materials required for the shipping function.

- High School degree or equivalent, Technical degree or training preferred.
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in shipping.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to handle a multi-tasked role and good organizational skills.
- Math abilities to include knowledge of fractions and decimal equivalents. Basic understanding of Metric system measurements and conversion from inches/feet to mm/cm/m.
- Ability to use precision measuring procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and general arrangement drawings.
- Good mental and visual abilities along with good dexterity.
- Regular attendance and daily punctuality are necessary for performing the job.
- Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
