As the Wastewater Operator , you will work to ensure the efficient operation of the terminal wastewater plant and storm water management systems, carrying out sampling, analysis, recordkeeping and compliance support to keep the facility running safely and effectively.

What you will be doing

You will focus on the day-to-day operation of the terminal wastewater plant and storm water management systems, conducting routine sampling of various streams, analyzing wastewater samples, and maintaining accurate operating records and logs. Working under the Manager of Wastewater and Environmental Affairs, you will help ensure compliance by properly storing retain samples, assisting with updates to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manual, and accompanying regulatory personnel during sampling and compliance visits. Your role will involve hands-on work in an outdoor industrial environment, using plant equipment and testing methods to keep the wastewater systems running efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities

- Samples various streams of the wastewater treatment systems, third party shipments, and storm water management areas.
- Analyze wastewater samples including, but not limited to, pH, TSS, COD, phenols, ammonia, dissolved oxygen, bacterial observation, phosphates, SVI.
- Maintains wastewater operating records.
- Maintains log of effluent flow rates.
- Ensures retain samples are properly stored
- Assists in formulation and update of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manual.
- Accompanies regulatory personnel during sampling and compliance visits.

Qualifications

- Must have math, reading and written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
- TNRCC “C” Wastewater license.
- Minimum of sixty (48) months experience in wastewater and drum storage experience or Stolthaven plant operations experience.
- Ability to operate forklift, vacuum truck, and cyclesorb unit.
- Ability to act as Assistant Wastewater Supervisor if required.
- Ability to act independently in performing all normal job duties.
