About this role
The Department of English at Calvin University invites applications for part-time instruction in the area of creative writing: fiction. Additionally, there may be need for English 101: Written Rhetoric. The appointment will be for the spring semester, beginning January 2027.
REQUIREMENTS
- A commitment to the Christian faith and a willingness to integrate that faith into classroom teaching and student development is essential. Candidates are expected to affirm the Apostle’s Creed (https://www.crcna.org/welcome/beliefs/creeds/apostles-creed), theNicene Creed (https://www.crcna.org/welcome/beliefs/creeds/nicene-creed), and theAthanasian Creed (https://www.crcna.org/welcome/beliefs/creeds/athanasian-creed).
- An MFA is preferred, but all applicants must have a strong and active record of publication in fiction. Other genres are not currently needed—applicants for fiction only.
- All applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods and instructional technology as required. Teaching at the university level is preferred.
