Job Title
Brand Lead, Neuroscience, IBU Alliance Markets
Job Path: P path
Function: Marketing
Reporting to: CMO & COO, IBU Alliance Markets
Direct Report (subordinate): Individual contributor
Location: Alliance Markets Hub [South Africa, Egypt, UAE or UK]
Overall Job Purpose:
Lilly's International Business Unit (IBU) Alliance Markets today comprise 19 partners (11 distribution-and-promotion and 9 distribution-only) covering 65+ countries and more than 30% of the world's population, across the SPECC, MENA, SAFSA-CIS and ASEAN regions. Under Lilly's Arm's-Length Principle, partners hold Marketing Authorization, distribute and promote Lilly's portfolio, and manage day-to-day commercial and HCP-facing execution in-market, while Lilly retains IP, sets supply price, and provides strategic and brand guidance.
As the Brand Lead, Neuroscience, IBU Alliance Markets, you will be Lilly's strategic anchor for the Neuroscience portfolio — including donanemab and future pipeline assets — across this Alliance footprint. You will strengthen strategic partnerships through disciplined alliance management, lead the Neuroscience portfolio agenda on behalf of Lilly, represent the brand to partners, provide strategic guidance upon request, and help ensure launch excellence for Neuroscience products across the Alliance.
You will build partner marketing capability in the Neuroscience therapeutic area and regularize 1:1 governance cadences with partner Brand/Marketing counterparts. Consistent with the Arm's-Length Principle, you will support — rather than direct — partners in the field, including on when and how to use market research, and, upon request, will help partners maximize portfolio growth by sharing Lilly's global Neuroscience experience and best practices. You will also recommend changes to internal procedures across regions to help partners comply with local regulations.
Brand Lead, Neuroscience – Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Launch Excellence (Neuroscience)
- Apply a thorough understanding of the complexity and ambiguity of external analysis (epidemiology, competitive landscape, market research) to make Neuroscience brand/molecule recommendations, and accurately define critical success factors for the therapeutic area.
- Upon request, support partners on when and how to use market research as a tool, and help partners articulate the problems that market research or field information gathering is intended to address.
- Ensure ongoing communication from Lilly global Neuroscience teams is appropriately and promptly shared with partners so they remain current on global brand developments.
- Upon request, share product information with partners' medical, marketing and their trainers, and share Lilly's experience and learnings from prior Neuroscience product launches.
- Closely work with Regulatory and Medical teams to support and fast-track Neuroscience launches and life-cycle activities in Alliance countries.
Partner Relationship & Capability Management
- Act as the subject-matter expert for the Neuroscience brand/portfolio and as the principal liaison between partner and Lilly on brand/therapeutic-area topics.
- Build partner marketing capability in Neuroscience — coaching partner brand teams, upon request, on brand planning, forecasting and share experience of Next-Generation Engagement Tools and materials (e.g., VAE, eP2Ps, SOAs) — while field execution and HCP engagement remain the partner's accountability under the Arm's-Length Principle.
- Support partners in sharing initiatives that maximize the value of Neuroscience molecules with key reimbursement/formulary and HCP stakeholders, without assuming HCP-facing responsibilities that belong to the partner.
- Regularize 1:1 governance cadences with partner Brand/Marketing counterparts to maintain alignment on strategy, launch readiness and performance.
Measurement and Evaluation
- Deliver on revenue, APT (achievement to plan) and market share of the Neuroscience portfolio across Alliance partnership markets.
- Use measurement results defined in the partnership agreement, local customer insights and cross-market experience to effectively track progress toward agreed Neuroscience objectives.
- Monitor Neuroscience competitive intelligence and clinical/guideline developments and disseminate implications to partners and internal stakeholders.
Compliance
- Operate strictly within Lilly's Alliance Arm's-Length Principle: partners hold Marketing Authorization and execute in-market promotion; Lilly retains IP, sets supply price, and provides strategic guidance rather than directing local execution.
- Act in accordance with privacy and other internal and external procedures, the Alliance Playbook 3.0, and the highest ethical standards of Lilly and the communities where Lilly and its partners do business.
- Demonstrate Lilly values with a strong commitment to ethics & compliance, minimizing risk and ensuring no violations when working with partners, including in partners' use of Next-Generation Engagement Tools.
Capabilities/Skills:
- Commercial acumen and strategic mindset, with the ability to think analytically and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges; Neuroscience disease-area or Neuroscience marketing experience is an advantage.
- Brand planning and forecasting (strategic planning of Neuroscience portfolio).
- Ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-market environment spanning 65+ Alliance markets across various regions (ASEAN, Africa + part of Middle east and Latam), with strong interpersonal, collaboration and partnering skills and the ability to relate to and influence people at all levels.
- Proficient with written and spoken English; Arabic or other regional languages is a plus for MENA/Gulf-facing markets.
- Effective, efficient and decisive; speaks up with ideas and concerns and to help ensure the safety of others.
- Sound knowledge of compliance and ethical standards within the pharmaceutical industry, including Alliance Arm's-Length operating principles.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; good planning and decision-making.
- Upholds Lilly values (Integrity, Excellence, Respect); outstanding learning agility and proactiveness.
- Skilled at influencing with authority while working with partner brand managers and Lilly cross-functional teams (CFT).
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's Degree required; Pharmacy, PharmD or related field, plus MBA (Marketing) or Master's, preferred.
- At least 1 year of sales experience.
- 5+ years' experience in pharma marketing, including regional/affiliate launch experience, preferred.
- Neuroscience disease-area or Neuroscience marketing experience preferred; experience with Next-Generation Engagement Tools (e.g., VAE, eP2Ps, SOAs) and launch readiness is a plus.
- Prior alliance, distributor, or multi-market commercial experience preferred.
