Job Description

The Electro Polish Cleaner is responsible for cleaning, finishing, and preparing metal components used in the manufacture of high-reliability glass-sealed connectors and assemblies. This role performs electropolishing, chemical cleaning, rinsing, neutralization, and related finishing operations while ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and customer requirements. The Electro Polish Cleaner plays a key role in supporting product appearance, corrosion resistance, cleanliness, and overall manufacturing quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Electropolishing & Cleaning Operations

- Perform electropolishing operations on metal components using approved equipment, chemicals, and work instructions.
- Prepare parts for processing through cleaning, masking, inspection, and handling procedures.
- Apply electropolishing solutions using approved methods while monitoring processing times, voltage settings, and surface finish requirements.
- Perform rinsing, neutralization, drying, and final cleaning processes following established procedures.
- Operate cleaning tanks, rinse systems, and associated finishing equipment.
- Inspect parts before and after processing to verify cleanliness, finish quality, and conformance to specifications.
- Identify and report product defects, equipment issues, or process abnormalities to supervision.

Production Support

- Maintain production records and process documentation accurately and completely.
- Follow production schedules and prioritize work to meet department goals.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of chemicals, supplies, and consumable materials.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and workplace organization.
- Cross-train on other Glass Seal production processes as required.

Quality Responsibilities

- Follow all work instructions, process specifications, and quality requirements.
- Perform visual inspections and basic measurements to verify work meets standards.
- Ensure proper handling of customer product to prevent contamination or damage.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions when required.

Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

- Safely handle chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), company procedures, and training requirements.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, aprons, and other required protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority when an unsafe condition exists.

Qualifications

Required

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of manufacturing, finishing, cleaning, plating, electropolishing, chemical processing, or related production experience preferred.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain production and quality records accurately.

Preferred

- Experience with electropolishing, plating, passivation, metal finishing, or chemical processing.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as aerospace, defense, medical device, electronics, or precision manufacturing.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform frequent reaching, bending, and handling of parts and materials.
- Ability to wear required PPE and safely work around chemical processing equipment.

Work Environment

- Manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, cleaning solutions, heated liquids, and industrial equipment.
- Regular use of safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and safety footwear.
- Work performed in designated production and chemical processing areas.
