The Opportunity

Are you a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to make a direct impact within an industry-leading business? At Holcim , we are offering an exciting opportunity to get involved with overseeing production and maintaining a variety of block-making machinery, alongside delivering continuous improvement initiatives at our Croft site. You'll be working a 3-shift rotation, Monday to Friday (06:00–14:15, 14:00–22:15, and 22:00–06:15)

In this dynamic role as a mechanical maintenance engineer, you will work collaboratively with the engineering and production teams to maximise plant reliability, uphold exceptional quality standards, and shape operational success,

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee and maintain plant equipment, including specialised block-making machinery, to deliver production targets efficiently.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) routines and rapidly diagnose mechanical faults to minimise operational downtime.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across cost, quality, and safety performance.
- Undertake metal fabrication, arc and gas welding, and machine shop tasks to repair and enhance equipment.
- Support day-to-day factory operations, guiding team members and fostering positive cross-departmental working relationships.
- Actively promote a safety-first culture in alignment with Holcim’s commitment to Zero Harm.

Who you are

- You hold a completed mechanical qualification with certification in NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC, or an equivalent qualification in plant maintenance.
- You possess proven technical expertise in arc and gas welding, metal fabrication, and machine shop skills.
- You bring practical experience in diagnosing and resolving faults within hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- You are a proactive problem-solver who enjoys identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and site optimisation.
- You excel at communicating clearly and constructively with team members across all levels of the organisation.
- You prioritise health, safety, and welfare in everything you do, with a collaborative approach to maintaining high working standards.
- You are comfortable using basic IT applications to support site processes and reporting.
