About this role
The Stewardship Coordinator supports donor stewardship and direct marketing efforts across Atlanta Humane, Operation Humane, and Remedy, helping ensure donors receive thoughtful, timely, and consistent communications throughout their relationship with the organization.
The position has a primary stewardship focus on donors contributing cumulative gifts under $1,000 annually, while also supporting recurring donors and broader fundraising initiatives across all three brands of the Atlanta Humane Society: Atlanta Humane, Operation Humane, and Remedy. This position supports donor acknowledgment, data management, donor communications, direct mail campaigns, and stewardship activities that strengthen donor retention, engagement, and cultivation.
Additionally, the Stewardship Coordinator provides administrative and logistical support to the Guardian’s Circle and Major Gift teams as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the acknowledgment process for donors contributing gifts under $1,000, including preparing and sending personalized thank-you notes, emails, and acknowledgment letters.
- Help maintain a consistent donor stewardship calendar across Atlanta Humane, Operation Humane, and Remedy, ensuring regular communication and meaningful donor touchpoints.
- Support donor retention efforts by sharing updates on the impact of gifts and the organization’s activities.
- Accurately document donor interactions, preferences, and contributions in the CRM system (Salesforce).
- Assist in generating reports on stewardship efforts and donor engagement for internal use.
- Provide administrative and communication support for the recurring donor program, including retention strategies, impact updates, acknowledgment processes, and donor requests.
- Assist in segmenting donor lists for targeted appeals, acknowledgments, and stewardship touchpoints, ensuring appropriate personalization of outreach.
- Regularly review and update donor records to ensure data accuracy and consistency, especially for acknowledgment, mailing, and reporting purposes.
- Provide support for direct mail campaigns across Atlanta Humane, Operation Humane, and Remedy, including helping with mailing lists, proofreading materials, tracking deadlines, and other campaign-related tasks as needed.
- Support the preparation of materials for donor events, recognition programs, stewardship initiatives, and fundraising campaigns.
- Work closely with the Direct Marketing and Stewardship Manager to implement donor-centric communication strategies across Atlanta Humane, Operation Humane, and Remedy.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to integrate digital and print stewardship efforts effectively.
- Provide support to the Guardian’s Circle and Major Gift teams for special initiatives and projects as needed.
- Handle donor inquiries via email, phone, and mailbag communications, ensuring exceptional customer service and a positive donor experience.
- Assist with gift processing coordination and donor acknowledgment efforts in collaboration with the Finance team.
- Support other tasks within the Community Engagement team as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, or a related field preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in donor stewardship, customer service, fundraising, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Intermediate knowledge of CRM and fundraising systems (e.g., Salesforce, Stripe, GoFundMe Pro).
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
