Northrop Grumman is currently seeking either a Principal Facilities Engineer or a Senior Principal Facilities Engineer to develop site and architectural drawings for facility projects that support both sustaining infrastructure and new program facility requirements on site at our Clearfield, Utah location.

In this position the Principal Facilities Engineer or Senior Principal Facilities Engineer will plan, design and oversee the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. The selected candidate will gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. The selected candidate will create architectural designs as well as coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. The selected candidate will prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. The selected candidate will review and provide estimates for design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. The selected candidate will Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Job Summary including Duties and Responsibilities:

- Applying extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
- Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on drawing reviews.
- Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Coordinate the creation of federated Revit/BIM models that include architectural, mechanical, structural and electrical discipline models.
- Assist/teach coworkers in understanding Revit methods/best practices.
- Create diagrams and presentations to support design decisions during reviews for upper management.
- Assist the space planning department in updating Archibus space management software.
- Work with production customers to understand needs and document requirements.
- Provide technical support to project managers during every phase of the project.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to capture all technical requirements for the equipment.
- Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
- Consult with space planning on options for placement of equipment in the facility.
- Be a technical resource for maintenance when troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Oversee the equipment installation and commissioning to ensure all specification requirements are met.
- Travel to equipment suppliers, as required, to validate progress and perform checkout testing.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

- Team with other engineering disciplines, management, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure projects are cost effective, within budget, meet the design criteria, meet schedule, and coordinate release and buy off with customers.
- Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, building codes, and schedules.
- Reviews and estimates design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
- Consult on the design of new facility layouts or alterations to existing structures or construction of new structures, this will include navigating building codes and permits.
- Maintain existing condition architectural Revit models to ensure good starting data for projects that will meet evolving business needs.

This position may be filled as either a Principal or Senior Principal level, dependent on qualifications.

Basic for Principal Facilities Engineer Level Qualifications (Level 3):

- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or Architecture with 5 years’ experience with facility engineering experience, or 3 years’ experience and MS Degree in architecture.
- Must have a background in Architecture specifically in industrial environments
- Must have the ability to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain required Program Accesses

Basic for Senior Principal Facilities Engineer Level Qualifications (Level 4):

- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or Architecture with 8 years’ experience with facility engineering experience, or 6 years experience and MS Degree architecture or 4 years experience and PhD in architecture.
- Must have a background in Architecture specifically in industrial environments
- Must have the ability to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain required Program Accesses

Preferred Qualifications :

- Current Architectural License
- Bachelors Degree in Architecture
- Active US Government Secret Security Clearance
- Process equipment knowledge including application, implementation and interaction with other process equipment.
- Understanding and experience with ICD705 is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong Revit and AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Experience supporting a Manufacturing Facility

- Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources.
- Have applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
