Inventory Control Supervisor

InterMetro Industries is seeking an Inventory Control Supervisor for our Murfreesboro, TN Distribution Center .

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy and integrity throughout the distribution center. This position leads inventory control activities, including cycle counting, reconciliation, location audits, process improvement initiatives, and inventory-related training. The Inventory Control Supervisor partners closely with operations, receiving, shipping, quality, and customer service teams to maintain accurate inventory records, reduce discrepancies, and support operational efficiency.

This role supervises Inventory Control associates and serves as the subject matter expert for inventory management processes, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory accuracy initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Manages and maintains safe operating practices and conditions within assigned work areas. Leads by personally setting the example.

- Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning, and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff, and overseeing their productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.

- Provides coaching and corrective actions to hourly associates who fail to meet established production, quality, attendance or other standards.

- Maintain inventory accuracy and stock levels that meet or exceed company standards.

- Develop, implement, and monitor inventory control procedures and best practices.

- Oversee daily cycle count activities and physical inventory programs.

- Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes.

- Perform inventory reconciliations and execute corrective actions.

- Monitor inventory transactions to ensure accuracy of receipts, transfers, adjustments, and shipments.

- Partner with Receiving, Shipping, and Operations teams to ensure inventory movement is accurately documented.

- Generate and analyze inventory reports, including inventory accuracy, cycle count results, inventory adjustments, obsolete inventory, and lost or damaged inventory.

- Review inventory trends and identify opportunities to improve inventory performance.

- Promote safety guidelines to reinforce and recognize safe work habits, identify training needs or initiate corrective action for team members.

- Maintain departmental goals set forth by Operations Manager including, overtime, quality and cost.

- Maintain fair and consistent relations with all employees. Consistently administer and maintain compliance with company policies

- Assists in planning, monitoring, and/or managing budget in functional areas of department to include overtime, supplies and other resources

- Manages vacation time, as well as all time and attendance activity for assigned personnel.

- Ensure all current and new employees under your supervision are trained in the Code of Business Ethics, in its meaning and application.

- Maintain a workplace environment that encourages frank and open communication, free from fear of reprisal, concerning compliance with the code and support the companys open-door policy

- Actively participates in Performance Excellence initiatives and seeks opportunities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

- Coordinate annual physical inventory

- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge :

- Bachelors degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, or related field preferred

- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

- 3 + years of related experience in distribution or manufacturing setting.

- 1-3 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.

- Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and warehouse operations.

- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems; Oracle strongly preferred.

- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
