Investment Risk – Summer 2027 Internship

Systematic Investment Risk team sits at the heart of Man Group's systematic investment process, providing independent oversight of the risk profile of our trading strategies and funds. Working closely with portfolio managers, researchers, and technologists, the team ensures that risk is well understood, appropriately managed, and consistently reflected in how we allocate capital and construct portfolios.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a fast-paced, quantitatively driven environment at the intersection of markets, mathematics, and technology. Interns will work alongside experienced risk professionals on real problems affecting live trading strategies, from day-to-day risk monitoring to longer-term projects enhancing our internal risk models and analytical tools. It's an excellent grounding for anyone interested in a career in quantitative finance and risk management.

Key responsibilities :

- Monitor and manage risk across systematic trading strategies & funds

- Work with all areas within the business – both within and outside Systematic – to resolve risk issues as they arise

- Assist in building out the broader risk framework and analytical infrastructure – including internal risk models and code

- Conduct research into new risk measurement and management techniques

Required skills :

- A strong mathematical and statistical background

- Excellent communication skills

- Currently in your penultimate year of study, graduating in 2028

Learning opportunities :

- A broad understanding of the full range of Man Systematic trading strategies

- Technical familiarity with both industry-standard and proprietary internal risk analytics & modelling techniques

- Knowledge of financial markets across all major asset classes
