Open-Rank Faculty in Social Work & COR

| POSITION SUMMARY

Columbia College invites applications for an open-rank position in Social Work and with the Center for Organization Resilience (COR) that will begin in August 2027 . The position is housed in the School of Arts and Sciences and reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences . The COR program at Columbia College builds Trauma Informed Empowered Resilient (TIER) organizations through intentional workshops based on the six principles of trauma informed approaches (SAMHSA, 2023). The position requires an experienced lecturer who will deliver dynamic social work lectures and engaging relevant content with students, the community, and organizations. Columbia College seeks candidates who aspire to excellence in teaching, leadership, and research, and who can build collaborative relationships within the college and the profession.

Typical Job Duties for the Lecturer / COR Facilitator:

- Instruct and facilitate a learning experience in person and/or online for BSW students using CSWE accredited and approved curriculum

- Responsible for the duties of a full-time faculty member as outlined in the Columbia College Handbook

- Some recruitment, retention, and marketing activities for the BSW and COR programs

- Learn and Facilitate the Trauma Informed Empowered Resilience (TIER) Leadership curriculum with COR organizations pursuing certification in trauma informed approaches

BSW faculty teach courses in the intersection of social work and child welfare or criminal justice, direct service with individuals and groups and macro practice.

This position is a nine-month appointment. Faculty Rank is dependent upon qualifications. The standard teaching load is twelve credit hours (4/4) for the fall and spring semesters. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities, and is expected to teach core courses in Social Work. Faculty are expected to have flexibility in class scheduling to meet the needs of the students. Faculty members are also expected to participate in faculty governance and academic program activities and to engage in service as well as scholarship and professional development.

Qualifications

| QUALIFICATIONS

Each successful candidate must have an earned Master of Social Work by the time of appointment. A terminal degree in Social Work is not required but preferred ( DSW or PhD ). The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience and five years as a licensed social worker practicing in the field. All required documents must be completed for the application to be reviewed.
