Job summary

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the purchasing team within an assigned market, ensuring efficient procurement operations that support business objectives and customer needs. This role supervises purchasing personnel, manages supplier relationships, drives inventory optimization, and ensures purchasing processes are executed accurately and efficiently. The Purchasing Supervisor serves as the primary liaison between the local market, sales teams, operations, and the Director of Purchasing to ensure alignment with company goals, service expectations, and profitability targets.

Key Accountabilities

- Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team, establishing performance expectations, providing guidance, and ensuring efficient execution of purchasing activities.

- Oversee procurement operations including purchase order management, vendor coordination, inventory replenishment, and resolution of purchasing discrepancies.

- Manage supplier relationships and collaborate with vendor partners to improve product availability, pricing, service levels, and procurement efficiency. Lead and participate in Product Line & Vendor consolidation projects.

- Partner with Sales, Operations, and Management teams to align purchasing strategies with market demand and customer requirements. Establish good rapport with branch managers and management team.

- Monitor inventory levels, purchasing metrics, supplier performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.

- Prepare reports, maintain purchasing records, ensure compliance with company policies, and support strategic purchasing initiatives directed by the Director of Purchasing.

Minimum work experience requirements:

- Previous experience leading or supervising purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain functions.

- Electrical distribution industry experience preferred.

- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills.

- Strong negotiation and vendor management capabilities.

- Ability to analyze inventory, purchasing, and sales data to drive business decisions.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships and influence stakeholders.

- Experience with ERP, purchasing, and inventory management systems. – Eclipse preferred

- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum education requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field preferred.

- 5+ years of progressively responsible purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain experience.

- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
