Introduction

We are looking for an Assembly Technician to join our Columbia Pump Assembly Production Team . In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for assembling high-quality pumps and components, ensuring all products meet specifications, quality standards, and delivery requirements. You will play a key role in supporting production operations and maintaining efficient workflow within the facility. You will report to John Miller, Production Manager.

This role is based in Columbia, SC.

This role may include domestic and international travel as needed to support operations.

Team you will belong to

You will join a team of 5-7 skilled production professionals focused on the assembly, testing, packaging, and delivery of pump products and components. Our team plays a critical role in ensuring customers receive high-quality products on schedule while maintaining Metso's standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence. We collaborate closely with Production Managers, Assembly Leads, warehouse personnel, and other manufacturing team members. Our ways of working emphasize safety, teamwork, accountability, problem-solving, and getting things done together.

What you'll do

- Assemble pumps and components according to specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.

- Collaborate with the Production Manager or Assembly Lead to resolve production challenges and maintain workflow efficiency.

- Perform testing, tagging, packing, and loading activities while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

- Follow all workplace safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.

- Assist with warehouse operations, including pulling, picking, shipping, and receiving parts and components.

- Operate equipment and tools required to support assembly and warehouse functions.

- Support domestic and international operational requirements through travel when needed.

- Participate in additional duties and special projects as assigned.

What you'll bring

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.

- Experience safely operating overhead cranes and jib cranes.

- Valid state driver's license required for forklift operation.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, stooping, bending, climbing, and prolonged standing.

- Close and distance vision capabilities required to perform assembly and inspection tasks.

- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively utilize keyboards, phones, and standard office equipment.
