Job Description
This position performs a variety of secretarial and administrative functions, sometimes of a confidential nature, for a General Magistrate serving in the Family Law Division.
Essential Duties
- Answer and direct phone calls. Communicate with attorneys and pro se litigants regarding court procedures. Open, sort and distribute mail.
- Handle the coordination and scheduling of post-judgment Family Law hearings, excluding Title IV-D child support issues.
- Maintain filing and calendaring systems for the General Magistrate.
- Prepare correspondence, memoranda, travel requests, etc. for submission and approval.
- Upload recommended orders to JAWS for the Uniform Family Court Judge’s signature.
- Compile monthly hearing data, prepare and submit child support hearing officer monthly Uniform Data Reporting to the Administrative Office of the Courts.
- Maintain the dockets, notes and recusal list for the General Magistrate. Order office supplies.
Education and Training Guidelines
- EXPERIENCE: Two years of related work experience.
- EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED and two years of college or vocational school education in paralegal, secretarial skills, computer operations, or a closely related field.
- SUBSTITUTION: Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year for-year basis.
