Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders .
Florida State Hospital (FSH) is a mental health treatment facility owned and operated by the State of Florida and is part of the Department of Children and Families. This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as Food Service Administrator – SES within Food Services. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. This role requires the use of independent judgment, a proactive approach to responsibilities, and exceptional attention to detail. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Supervised Food Support Worker and Support Service Aide position. Responsible for total service in the Dish Room, providing on the job training, motivation, communications, planning and directing their work. Prepares work schedules and implements same to ensure timely service of meals.
- Ensure breakfast, lunch and dinner trays are washed.
- Ensure dish machines are disassembled and cleaned and reassembled between each meal.
- Responsible for daily sanitation and safety of dish room. Does daily inspections and records same. Assigns employees to daily and special cleaning in order to meet sanitation standards for tray line and other areas.
- Instruct employees on safe operation of equipment.
- Ensure pots and pans are washed.
- Plans and directs work. Counsels’ employees on performance. Prepared performance reviews according to established procedure. Meets regularly with employees to ensure established standards are met. Monitors dish room personnel. Schedules employees in dish room. Check dish machine temperature and record same. Assigns regular and special cleanings. Supervisor preparation on snacks. Responsible for proper packaging distribution, package labeling and proper line up for truck driver to pick up and deliver to units.
- Conducts and attends schedules in-services and Manager's meeting. Ensure staff understanding of material covered.
- Participates in Quality Assurance and menu-planning. Relieves Assistant Food Service Director and assumes all duties when Assistant is absent.
- Performs other related duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:
- Knowledge of the equipment, procedures and techniques used in food service.
- Knowledge of food service safety and sanitation procedures.
- Knowledge of food service purchasing procedures.
- Knowledge of maintenance requirements of kitchen equipment.
- Ability to supervise people.
- Ability to train others in food service procedures and techniques.
- Ability to plan and make bulk food purchases.
- Ability to plan and direct food service for large groups of people.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience supervising food service operations and staff.
- Currently have ServSafe Manager Certification from the State of Florida or ability to earn it within 6 months after hired.
