Production Engineer

Job Title: Production Engineering Technician Job Description
The Production Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations by driving process improvements, supporting automation and robotics, troubleshooting equipment, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimize cycle times, enhance product quality, support robotic welding operations, and implement effective countermeasures for production issues. The position offers long-term growth opportunities within engineering and manufacturing leadership, as well as exposure to advanced CNC programming and modern manufacturing technologies.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day manufacturing operations by troubleshooting equipment issues and minimizing production downtime.
- Optimize production processes to improve cycle times, increase throughput, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Support automation systems, including robotics and PLC-controlled equipment, to ensure stable and reliable operation.
- Assist with programming, teaching, and troubleshooting industrial robots used in welding and other automated processes.
- Support and improve robotic welding processes, ensuring consistent weld quality and adherence to specifications.
- Evaluate weld quality using appropriate tools and techniques, identify quality concerns, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform root cause analysis on production issues and implement process improvements and countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to support process setup, troubleshooting, and product verification.
- Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions and confirm compliance with specifications.
- Document process changes, improvements, and troubleshooting steps to support standardization and knowledge sharing.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and other computer applications to analyze data, track metrics, and report on performance and improvements.
- Participate in manufacturing technology initiatives, including automation, controls, robotics, and process optimization projects.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor.
- Support off-shift or extended hours production needs when required to resolve equipment or process issues.
Essential Skills
- Experience with robotics programming, teaching, and troubleshooting, or experience with controls and PLC troubleshooting.
- Understanding of robotic welding processes and their application in manufacturing.
- Ability to evaluate weld quality and identify quality concerns using appropriate methods and tools.
- Experience with root cause analysis and process improvement activities within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers for dimensional inspection.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in a production setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other common computer applications.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs or other PLC platforms.
- 13 years of experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Technical Certificate in Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Electrical Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robots in a production environment.
- Welding or robotic welding experience, highly preferred.
- Experience in continuous improvement, manufacturing engineering, automation, controls, or robotics.
- Automotive manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required.
- Interest in developing advanced CNC programming skills.
- Desire to grow into engineering and manufacturing leadership roles over time.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment focused on process improvement and operational excellence.
Work Environment
This role operates in a combination of manufacturing floor and office settings, providing exposure to both hands-on production activities and technical engineering work. The position involves frequent interaction with production associates, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams in a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. Standard hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime required at times based on production needs and equipment issues. The technician may occasionally stay late or support production during off-shift situations to resolve urgent problems. The work environment offers regular involvement with automation, robotics, welding processes, and process improvement projects in a stable manufacturing facility with opportunities for internal advancement. The role follows typical manufacturing safety practices and may require appropriate personal protective equipment while working on the production floor.

This is a Permanent position based out of South Charleston, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $78000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401(k) company match up to 4%.
