This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on improving production efficiency, quality, and scalability by optimizing processes, tooling, and documentation in a large industrial environment. You will train production personnel, support new product introduction, and partner closely with cross-functional teams to enhance material flow, assembly techniques, and overall operational performance. The position offers the opportunity to lead lean manufacturing initiatives and serve as the primary manufacturing engineer supporting a major product launch.
Responsibilities
- Train production personnel on assembly methods, work instructions, and standardized manufacturing practices to ensure consistent and high-quality output.
- Partner with product development, operations, and supply chain teams to improve material flow, assembly techniques, and product delivery processes.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality through process improvements and lean manufacturing principles.
- Support the design and implementation of production tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and other manufacturing aids to improve operational performance.
- Evaluate products and processes for manufacturability and recommend design enhancements that improve production efficiency and scalability.
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process change orders by resolving bill of material (BOM) and design issues.
- Serve as the primary manufacturing engineer in support of a product launch, ensuring smooth transition from development to full-scale production.
- Help lead lean manufacturing processes within Operations, including the adoption of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to ensure that engineering designs align with practical manufacturing capabilities and constraints.
- Act as a hands-on engineer on the production floor, troubleshooting issues, validating process changes, and supporting day-to-day manufacturing needs.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drawing, with the ability to develop and interpret detailed engineering documentation.
- Strong understanding of production, manufacturing, and fabrication processes.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for manufacturability principles.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and apply lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player while also being self-managed and able to operate independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve BOM and design issues in a production setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with new product introduction (NPI) and supporting product launches from engineering into production.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as Inventor or similar 3D modeling software.
- Background in developing and improving manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Experience designing or supporting production tooling, fixtures, and test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives within operations.
- Strong communication skills for training production personnel and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Motivation to contribute to a strong, collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement.
Work Environment
The role is based 100% onsite at a large production facility that focuses on complex sortation systems, combining both office and industrial manufacturing environments. You will spend time in an office setting for design, documentation, and collaboration, as well as on the production floor working directly with equipment, tooling, and assembly processes. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule during normal business hours, with flexibility as needed for personal reasons to work remotely on occasion, though there are no fixed remote days. The facility emphasizes a strong, supportive culture and offers on-site amenities such as a pharmacy, gym, and access to a nurse practitioner. The environment is oriented around hands-on engineering, modern manufacturing technologies, and continuous improvement within a large-scale production operation.

This is a Permanent position based out of Edgemere, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.89 - $67.31/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
