Professional Geologist

Ardurra is seeking a Tennessee-licensed Professional Geologist (PG) to join our expanding Environmental Services practice in Knoxville, Tennessee.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced geologist to play a key role in the growth of our environmental engineering and consulting services while working on challenging and rewarding projects throughout Tennessee and the Southeast.

We are looking for a motivated professional with 5-10 years of experience who is passionate about environmental investigation, hydrogeology, remediation, and project delivery. The successful candidate will work alongside environmental engineers, scientists, and project managers to solve complex environmental challenges for industrial, commercial, municipal, and brownfield redevelopment clients.

As a Professional Geologist with Ardurra, you will lead and support a wide variety of environmental and geotechnical projects throughout Tennessee and the Southeast. The successful candidate will have opportunities to manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeologic investigations, CERCLA and RCRA site characterization projects, remediation programs, brownfield redevelopment initiatives, and geotechnical investigations supporting infrastructure and land development projects. This role provides the opportunity to apply geologic expertise to groundwater assessment, drilling oversight, soil and bedrock core logging, foundation evaluations, slope stability analyses, and remedial design while working closely with environmental engineers, geotechnical engineers, and regulatory agencies.

This position provides significant opportunities for technical growth and leadership. The successful candidate will oversee drilling programs, log soil and bedrock core, interpret complex geologic conditions, develop conceptual site models, and work directly with clients and regulatory agencies to advance project objectives. Candidates with project management experience will have the opportunity to manage project budgets, schedules, client relationships, and multidisciplinary teams as they grow within the organization.

Primary Function:

You will serve as a technical expert on environmental and geologic projects, helping clients understand site conditions, evaluate environmental liabilities, and develop practical remedial solutions. Through your expertise in geology, hydrogeology, and environmental assessment, you will support projects involving property transactions, brownfield redevelopment, industrial facilities, infrastructure improvements, and regulatory compliance.

You will also help mentor junior staff, contribute to proposal development and business growth initiatives, and support the continued expansion of our environmental services practice throughout the region.

Primary Duties:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation in environmental consulting and geology, including experience with:

- Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ASTM Standards)

- CERCLA and RCRA Investigations

- Environmental Remediation and Corrective Action

- Hydrogeology and Groundwater Modeling

- Drilling Technologies and Subsurface Exploration

- Soil Boring and Bedrock Core Logging

- Contaminant Fate and Transport

- Brownfield Redevelopment

- Geotechnical Site Characterization

- Foundation Design Support

- Slope Stability Evaluation

- Geologic Hazard Assessment

- Regulatory Compliance and Agency Coordination

Education and Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering, or related field

- Active Tennessee Professional Geologist (PG) license required

- 5-10 years of relevant environmental consulting experience

- Current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (with current refreshers)

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to support field investigations and occasional travel throughout Tennessee and surrounding states

- Geotechnical and reporting/consulting experience is preferred
