About this role
Position Objectives:
- Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections of precast concrete products. Complete lab analysis of raw materials and conduct fresh concrete testing to confirm compliance. Observe production and storage yard procedures to ensure that established standards are being followed.
Position Responsibilities:
- Inspect and verify the use of the correct production drawings by the builders.
- Inspect and verify the dimensional accuracy and condition of forms.
- Verify the proper fabrication and placement of reinforcement and cast-in items.
- Inspect finished products for conformance with the production drawings and other
project requirements.
- Communicate daily with production personnel on quality issues found during inspections.
- Document inspection results using the proper forms.
- Verify procedures for concrete repair, handling, storage, and loading of finished
products.
- Inspect post-tensioning operations to ensure conformance with specified
procedures.
- Conduct fresh concrete testing to verify mix designs are within the acceptable parameters. Inform the batch plant operator when tests do not meet the requirements.
- Perform sieve analysis on coarse and fine aggregate to verify compliance.
- Perform compressive strength testing of concrete cylinders and grout cubes.
- Maintain calibration of QC lab equipment.
- Inspect welds on secondary concrete pours.
- Understand and apply the guidelines written in the plant Quality System Manual.
- Work together as part of the Quality Control Team to monitor quality in the plant.
- Maintain the acumatica database and create reports as required.
- File and maintain the following records:
- Suppliers test reports for cementitious materials, aggregates and admixtures
- Plant tensioning reports
- Fresh concrete test records
- Compressive strength results
- Pre-and-post-pour inspection reports
- Calibration records for equipment
- Aggregate gradation and moisture records
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in precast concrete production.
- Able to read and interpret precast concrete production drawings.
- Able to read a tape measure.
- Able to write legibly.
- Able to climb on and around the production tables.
- Able to lift 50-60 pounds
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I Certification
- ACI Self-Consolidating Concrete Testing Technician Certification
- PTI Level 1 Unbonded PT – Field Installation Certification
- Aggregate testing experience
- Concrete strength testing experience
- PCI Level I/II Technician Certifications, Desired
